Gabriel #1 Posted September 2, 2009 Mana Khemia 2 just came in today. I don't know when I'll be able to get to it and actually do anything with the game. I'm still tied up with Ar Tonelico II, Cross Edge, Xenosaga III, and weekly games of Sacred II. I don't remember if the pre-order mentioned any bonuses (I preordered back in May or June, whenever I got Cross Edge), so I was pleasantly surprised when the game came in a large box and included a soundtrack and poster. The poster is double sided, but it's crap. One side has artwork which is too busy (pic of all characters). The other side has an image that's too bland. Why is it that games NEVER come with good posters? The soundtrack is OK for a game soundtrack. It's very much like a standard anime soundtrack. It has 32 tracks. As I type this I'm to track 16. It's stereotypical JRPG peppy stuff. It's nowhere near as good as the BlazBlue soundtrack, and it's about a notch below the non-operatic parts of the Ar Tonelico II soundtrack. It has it's moments and it isn't bad if you like this kind of stuff like I do, but it's nowhere near a main course. The back of the actual game is dual language French and English. Hmmm. I don't recall ever seeing that on a PS2 game before. Maybe I haven't been paying attention.

cimerians #3 Posted September 2, 2009 I've been playing Grim Grimoire on the side lately but I have gotten stuck so I may start another game. I saw Mana Khemia 2 online for purchase. Was the first one good? Any recommendations to get it?

Mana Khemia is part of the Atelier Iris type of game play...you mix alot of items after collecting them from various places,.,...not bad gameplay....better tahn grimgrimmer...that game repeated itself to no end...then you get stuck... good luck
Gabriel #5 Posted September 2, 2009 I've been playing Grim Grimoire on the side lately but I have gotten stuck so I may start another game. I saw Mana Khemia 2 online for purchase. Was the first one good? Any recommendations to get it? As Neonesmaster says, it's from the Altelier Iris lineage, so I'm expecting something similar. I haven't played much into Atelier Iris, but it seemed neat enough. As for Mana Khemia 2 itself. I don't know yet. I got the game mainly on the strength of liking the characters' guest appearrances in Cross Edge. Plus, the original Mana Khemia was a game which had been on my to-get list because the theme seemed interesting (attending adventurer school). For whatever reason, I decided to skip on #1, so I'll find out about the series with this installment. The game clips I've seen have looked pretty neat. Mainly I was just wanting to give the shout out that this game had some extra goodies with it. I couldn't remember if it had been advertised with the bonus soundtrack or not. I know there's almost always some music in an RPG which sticks in my head and I wish I had outside of the game, so soundtracks are good bonuses from my POV. Mord #6 Posted December 26, 2009 (edited) The back of the actual game is dual language French and English. Hmmm. I don't recall ever seeing that on a PS2 game before. Maybe I haven't been paying attention. Obviously missed this months ago. *strikes out the part about me talking about english/japanese since I can't read.* I was all geared up to play Mana Khemia 2 when I got it as well, but sadly it's painful to play. The music and voices sound scratchy most of the time on my TV, like I'm listening to it through a CB Radio or something. Took some searching but apparently a couple others have had the problem as well, and they seem to think it's due to the audio in the game being higher than normal quality - higher than the types of TVs we have are able to process or something. As to if that's the case or not (I have a cheap TV from Wal-mart so...) I'm unsure but the next time I'm up for TV hunting I'll be attempting to find something better and I'll try again. For now I play it in spurts with the volume down loooow. Loud enough to get the idea and feel of the audio, but low enough that it's not melting my ears. Nothing wrong with the TV out of the ordinary however, as I can pop in Ar Tonelico or Mana Khemia 1 (or any other game that I've tried) and not have a problem with the sound. It's specific to that game. Edited December 26, 2009 by Mord

Maybe I haven't been paying attention. *returns from checking his own games* Yep, neither of us were paying attention. From a small sampling, I saw Dynasty Warriors 6, Ar Tonelico II, and Star Ocean 3 at the very least have english/french dual language on the back of the box.
