Try a different stick. A million companies made controllers for the 2600.

The joysticks just take a little getting used to, especially if you're normally used to modern consoles with control pads.

 

Also, joysticks (especially "like new" ones) limber up with use over time.

Wouldn't that have the OPPOSITE effect?
