candiru #1 Posted September 9, 2009 I see the loose cart seems to be in the $70 range these days. I'm having trouble finding an approximate value of the comic and manual. I think atari2600.com says something like $100 for cart plus pack-in documents. Does that sound about right? Thanks!

EricDeLee #3 Posted September 9, 2009 I agree... you should be able to get that much for it. But it really depends if someone out there needs it. I wouldn't be surprised if it did NOT get attention and sold for less. It is a hit and miss thing I guess.
Zwackery #4 Posted September 9, 2009 The data is old, but I tracked WW for a year, and noted times when there were docs involved: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/116945-had-water-world-in-my-hands-today/page__view__findpost__p__1413148
eegad #5 Posted September 9, 2009 Follow-up question.... What do you think a fair price would be for the cart, box, pack-in materials, plus the 'limited edition' t-shirt that the Atari Club offered with the game at the time? Or how 'bout the set of 3 t-shirts with all 3 games, boxes, etc. ?
Zwackery #6 Posted September 9, 2009 Follow-up question.... What do you think a fair price would be for the cart, box, pack-in materials, plus the 'limited edition' t-shirt that the Atari Club offered with the game at the time? Or how 'bout the set of 3 t-shirts with all 3 games, boxes, etc. ? Given how common both Earthworld and Fireworld are, the Atari Club t-shirts for each title are actually more valuable than the complete games themselves. The Waterworld shirt is extremely valuable given its rarity. It would probably be to your advantage to sell the games separately from the t-shirts. What condition are the shirts in (worn and faded, worn but okay, new)?
eegad #7 Posted September 10, 2009 Follow-up question.... What condition are the shirts in (worn and faded, worn but okay, new)? Never worn. Got them with each game. Packed 'em in a box in a closet at my parents. Claimed them and brought them to my house 2-3 years ago. They smell musty, but they've never been worn (or washed!). I'm actually on the fence as to whether or not I want to sell the Waterworld game, but I definitely wouldn't mind selling off the shirts.
EricDeLee #8 Posted September 11, 2009 do you have the Waterworld box? (seems like you have everything else... figured I'd ask)
eegad #9 Posted September 11, 2009 (edited) do you have the Waterworld box? (seems like you have everything else... figured I'd ask) Yes, I have the box, comic, instructions, hint sheet, tshirt......basically everything that came originally with the one exception being the 'entry form' cut-out for the contest. I do have the main part of the entry form, but at the time i cut off the bottom part and sent it in. Same situation for my Earthworld and Fireworld games....everything but the bottom cut-off entry form part. Edited September 11, 2009 by eegad

eegad #13 Posted September 12, 2009 Freaking nice! Thanks. Back to the original question, since I am curious. Any guesstimates from the Atari pros around here as to what that set of stuff might fetch on ebay these days? (in any combo.....everything together.....or just the set of 3 shirts....or just the waterworld game with its shirt?) Not sure I want to get rid of the games, but the shirts I have no use for (which is why they spent 25 years in my parents closet!
atari_envy #14 Posted September 12, 2009 here's the set of what i've got.... Wow, I am envious. Beautiful stuff. Thanks for sharing pic. I paid $125 for Waterworld with comic, instructions, and help sheet on ebay about 2 years ago.
EricDeLee #15 Posted September 12, 2009 Perhaps this is just me, but I personally think you would benefit more by selling that complete lot. All games, all boxes, all manuals, paperwork and of course the shirts. I think you can get $250-300 for that collection. I may be a bit high on the amount, but from a collector wanting something of great condition, I don't think they would pass this up. In fact, if Wonder sees this, you may have a buyer right on the spot. I think the condition of everything is what could drive the price up. You could have a few people fighting over this if you were willing to sell it. Sell it as the entire lot though.
homerwannabee #16 Posted September 13, 2009 I am going to say that you could get $1,000 for what you have if you put it as a lot with the shirts. The shirts in my opinion are the X-Factor. They are extremely rare. So that is why I am going up to $1,000. Definitely stands out.
candiru #17 Posted September 13, 2009 Well I can't help but feel a little bit like a jerk for taking advantage of another's ignorance, but I went ahead and picked up that Waterworld cart. I had asked before about value because I'd noticed Waterworld in a blurry photo in a CL listing. The cart is in good shape. It also has the manual, comic, complete poster + entry form, and the hint sheet. The hint sheet is a little beat up, but not bad. None of the Waterworld paperwork was visible in the photo, but there was a goodly stack of manuals in the pic that made me hopeful they'd be there. Along with that it came with a light sixer, 8 misc controllers, including a Spectravideo Quickshot VII, and 19 other games + manuals. Asteroids Breakout Bump 'n' Jump Centipede Combat Football (Atari) Football (INTVl) Frogger Kung-fu Master Jungle Hunt Maze Craze Missile Command Pac-Man (Sears) R.S. Baseball Skate Boardin' Space Invaders Space War Star Raiders Super Breakout Not too shabby at $35. I didn't really need any of it but Waterworld though. I don't really have any plans for selling the Waterworld cart. At this point I'll probably just sit around and feel warm and fuzzy inside for having something fairly rare. EricDeLee #18 Posted September 13, 2009 I did not even pay attention that there were two people asking for the value. Homer... that really would be around $1000 for that entire lot? Damn... I was WAY off on the pricing.
Zwackery #19 Posted September 13, 2009 For the games, I'd put SW:EW CIB @ $5-10, same for FW. SW:WW CIB @ $200-300 Shirts for EW and FW I'd guess $80-100, maybe significantly higher, and the WW shirt more than that. Depends on what collectors might be interested. CPUWIZ and FireTiger have some or all of the shirts (hers were original purchases I think, not sure about CPUWIZ's).
