Strong Museum acquires Videotopia collection

Recommended Posts

Hey all.

It appears that the Strong National Museum of Play, located here in Rochester NY, has purchased all 100 of the arcade games currently on display at the museum's "Videotopia" exhibit. The current exhibit, scheduled to close November 1st, has been extended to January 3rd. After that, select games will be available until a "major new exhibit" opens in 2012.

On a related note, it looks like I now have a really good reason to renew my family membership. :)

I wonder how Keith is doing. I haven't heard from him in a couple years. He wrote the testimonial on the back of the Castle Crisis box for me.

Interesting, so I guess this means the Videotopia collection will no longer be traveling?

No idea...the articles didn't say anything about it. One article I read this morning said they "bought all 114 games in the Videotopia collection". That makes it sound like the Electronics Conservancy wanted out of the project and found a willing buyer for it.

All I know is that we once again have a kick-a$$ arcade here in Rochester. :)

It's a great display for the Museum Of Play :) Wonder what permanent display they will make of it. Perhaps put all the random systems in multiple places upstairs together in one spot.
