SRGilbert #3 Posted September 12, 2009 Neat article for a terrific GBC game. Thanks
GideonsDad #4 Posted September 12, 2009 That picture of the Game Boy Asteroids cart. with black casing, isn't that a regular GB game that can be played in a 1st gen GB or GB Pocket? I know the GBC "enhances" the older games with color. But the screen caps look like a genuine GBC game not an enhanced / colorized GB game...Just wondering. StanJr #5 Posted September 12, 2009 I was curious about that too, Gideonsdad, but nope, its GBC!
GideonsDad #6 Posted September 12, 2009 (edited) I was curious about that too, Gideonsdad, but nope, its GBC! Cool, thanks StanJr! You should still stick it in a GB or GB Pocket to see if fits or see what happens. GideonsDad Edited September 12, 2009 by GideonsDad
GideonsDad #7 Posted September 12, 2009 I put Visualboy Advance into GB mode and this was the result. I can't say this would actually happen on real hardware though. GideonsDad
BDW #8 Posted September 12, 2009 It would infact work on the original grey brick. There are several carts like this (pokemon gold/silver, wario land 2, Rtype DX). I personally believe it was there during the phasing out period of the original grey brick to the GBC, so people who still didn't feel like investing in a GBC could still enjoy the high profile games. Video #9 Posted September 13, 2009 (edited) Yeah, all the color carts that are solid black with the notch in the corner, are DMG compatible. (I believe on actual hardware, the BG is white and the ship/rocks are black, could be wrong but I seem to recall it that way.. May dig it out when I get home and see) The translucent grey carts are the ones that are color exclusive. Just so you know when your out in the wild and want to know. One more thing, just remember, some of the DMG compatible color carts, will only boot in the last save state they were put in, you can play one that was saved on a color system, but have to delete your saved game in order to play on DMG, and vise versa.
