Galaxian
Hi guys and girls! I just bought a new controller and it didn't work And my other controller (Generie) is REALLY un-responsive. I have a bit of money and I want to know the best controller to get.
Wickeycolumbus
Welcome to AtariAge My favorite controller is the TAC-2. Also, if you search around, you should be able to find numerous threads on this topic.
BDW
I'll second the Tac-2. Best controller around, definately something to get.
godzillajoe
I love the Wico sticks. You can really beat the hell out of them without worrying about them snapping in half.

ToughGirl
Personally, I love regular Sega genesis controllers (yes they work fine). They are easier on the hands:)

You're not so tough. Hey now!!! 5 hours of 'midnight magic' with a joystick will give you some instant carpal tunnel, you know?
MagitekAngel
I like Genesis controllers too, actually. I have the joysticks for authenticity, but when my friends leave I'm more liable to pull out the Sega pad.
4Ks
Call me a wierdo, but I hate Genesis controllers. Big, black Genesis controllers with their 3 bottuns instead of the standard 4. Boo. I myself prefer the original joysticks.
Crimefighter
The Eypx joystick is my personal favorite.
Buck
The Wico Stick is the best IMO. Very durable. Buck
accousticguitar
Best Electronics is a good place to buy replacement CX-40 joysticks.
ninermaniac
The Eypx joystick is my personal favorite. Seconded. I just love the way it fits in your palm. They also have the 1,000,000 move gaurantee. Though I doubt you could send it back to the manufacturer if it was defective. keilbaca
My favorite stick is the CX-41 (the joysticks that come with the Flashback 2). The Tac-2 is just too big and makes my hands hurt.
nathanallan
For me it depends on the game, some games are great with the Genesis pads, others great with the Tac-2 or CX-40. Very twitchy, the Tac-2. Same for the Atari one, but not so much.
bones
Slik Stik for me. Small controller with a short throw, quick response, and makes that satisfying clicking sound.
Kenny_McCormic
If I could just make the damn thing sensitive enough I would use my sawn off CX-40.

You can use strips of tape to make a thin washer to push down sooner when you press the direction, over the metal button on the inside of the joystick. AtariLeaf
I've got four or five of the Wico Command Control joysticks. Its the only stick I use.
Galaxian
Ok guys and girls! Thanks if you replied! My final decision on controller is.... *drumrole* The Hot Stuff controller!!!!!! What do you think? (look up the controller on Atariguide. Just to let you know I DO NOT own atariguide.
BigO
What do you think? I think you'd surely rather have the 500XJ or Tac-2 that I'm planning to get rid of...or the Tac30 or the Wico Boss or maybe the Quickshot II...
Deteacher
I've used many different controllers over the years (TAC-2, Slik Stik, etc.) and I've always ended up going back to my trusty CX-40. I've got one that's nice and worn in. It's loose and responsive. I love it and will never part with it. pinball22
I've always been a big fan of the Spectravision/Quickshot/Archer/etc family, so I'm in favor of the Hot Stuff. (If you don't like yellow, they also exist in pink, blue, black, and probably other colors.) I just got a Suncom Starfighter... I've been wanting to try one out. Will report back when I've used it.
