Halo Multiplayer

I am torn between Halo and Halo 2. I loved the LAN parties of Halo, when I knew what I was doing almost every Friday and Saturday night for a year. Some many Xboxes, so many friends, so much fun and laughter. Health packs, no death-defying falls, glitches galore.

 

But Halo 2 on Live was a complete blast. I miss being able to harass the other team. I miss hiding in trees and trying to get the lowest negative score. I miss being harassed by the other team, and coming from behind to kick their asses. I miss meeting awesome adults, and making new friends I will probably never meet, but like better than most of the people I've met "for real".

 

But I have to make a choice.

I really liked the original Halo multiplayer a lot, but Halo 3 is where I had the most fun.

I personally only enjoy Halo CE multiplayer. A lot of what made that fun (for me at least) is missing or changed in Halo 2/3.

The changes to the physics, melee, grenades, health bar/packs, fall damage, and FoV just to name a few. And yeah, I love the pistol.

I put in my vote for Halo 2, but Halo is an extremely close 2nd. There's just so many good memories from playing both that it's hard to choose. One of the best memories was from Halo 2. A friend had just gotten a new place with some roomates who conveniently all had Xboxes. Needless to say after some ethernet cable was ran throughout the house we had a party with 10 or so people linked through about 4 Xbox systems. Hours of yelling and fun followed

 

Halo 3 wasn't bad, and I always a good time playing. I loved the different game modes, but the lack of Blood Gulch takes some of the fun away, and Valhalla just a good substitute.

 

 

Oh, and glad to see the mention of Halo Wars. Even though it's not a FPS, it's still a good Halo type time with 4 or more people.

I voted Halo 3 mainly because I've played with Foxy many times multiplayer and she never complains when I get killed over and over...(and over)Plus 4 way co-op through an awesome campaign? Can't beat that.

I've never really played much Halo multiplayer. I suck so bad I hate making a fool of myself. But of the 3 I've played Halo 3 multiplayer the most, but that's still hardly ever...

 

Oh yea forgot to mention I just picked up Halo Wars yesterday and haven't even opened it so I can't even comment on that.

Halo all the way! I'm sorry, but Halo was a unique game engine, and it SHOWS with all the insane bullshit that you could do. To this day, we still find ways to stuff the warthog in places it's physically to big to fit (destructable vehicles kinda killed that) Gernade jumps, sending you flying for miles, compounding the damage by using many explosives. All kinds of awesome stuff. Halo 2 and 3 may have more "build in" game modes, but Halo had more stuff you could do.

 

When Halo 2 came out, and I found it was just going to be yet another "me to" game tacked onto the unreal engine, I was like "er...Ok, well, lets see what Halo brings to the mix" unfortunately, unreal was used as a crutch more than anything, and most of what made Halo great.....well....simply dissappeared

 

And you know what? They STILL don't have bots. WTF is up with that? Yeah, I'll be the first to admit, if you can get them together, 8+ player with actual people kills bots, but most the people that play halo have jobs, familys etc, so getting the gang together is rarely fully done. So...we're stuck with 2-6 players regularly.

 

Well you know waht? We're using the unreal engine anyways.....fuck halo. Lets play a game that actually does it right. We can have a blast on Halo CE still,but beyond that, it's Unreal tournament (whatever) and it's just so much better in every way. Yeah, Halo2/3 has the charactures (of which, you get to play as two generic ones) but beyond that, it just fails in comparison.

Why would I complain when dying can be the funniest part of the game?! And did we complete the campaign with you and Breakpack? I think I've been through it four or five times with friends. I just went through Halo 2 campaign again, for only the second time this summer, and it was better than I remembered.

Halo 2 was probably my favouite. However...

 

I am slightly prejudiced against Halo in general, because it's all my old roommates ever played. For 18 hours a day. Every day. Loudly.

I played once in a while, but since my roommates played all the time, they were light years ahead of me in skill, further cementing my frustrations.

 

It wasn't all terrible though. I do remember one occasion where they had gotten so bored playing the game that they had gotten very creative in trolling the other players on Halo 3 live. I believe what they had done was hooked up an MP3 player with speakers in front of the TV, placed the Xbox Live Headset in front of the speakers, and started blasting continuous Celine Dion "My Heart Will Go On" during the matches.

 

The result was not unlike the climax of Mars Attacks. It was hilarious. Fucking hilarious. And thus for that, I'm willing to forgive all the nights they kept me awake playing Halo upstairs.

One of my favs was when Starcream (AKA Bl1tzw1ng)was driving a Warthog and I was manning the back gun. Dude from other team jumps in the passenger side, points his gun at Jay and pulls the trigger. Thing is, the barrel was too long and it was just going through him. Guy tries about 3 or 4 times, realizes he can't get a shot and bails out just in time to get nailed by the Gatling gun.

I liked 2 quite alot. Didn't play 3 for some reason nor halo wars. ODST is decent/good so far. My favorite is still the original
