STICH666 #1 Posted September 23, 2009 (edited) Get a damp Mr. Clean magic eraser and force it in the opening in the bottom of the cart and start running it back and forth. It acts like a very very fine grit sandpaper so it won't damage the board but it will rub away the corrosion. Just do that for about 30 seconds and you're good to go. Now all my NES games start up first try. Edited September 23, 2009 by STICH666

jaybird3rd #3 Posted September 23, 2009 I would be very careful not to scrub the contacts too much. The gold plating on card-edge connectors is very thin, and when it is scrubbed off, the connectors will corrode again very quickly. If you find that multiple cartridges are giving you trouble in your NES, it might be that the internal connector inside the console needs to be replaced. Fortunately, there are replacement connectors available.
STICH666 #4 Posted September 23, 2009 I also heard about Jewelry cleaner a while back. Thats cool to know, thanks for the info. Yeah that was me talking about the Connoisseurs Jewelry cleaner. I ran into problems with Genesis cars where there would be a loud buzz afterward so I stopped using that.
