Breakout Arcade Color?

I haven't seen an actual Breakout machine since, well, the late 70s or early 80s. I can't remember if it used a color overlay or if the colors were generated by the monitor. Web searches and book research haven't returned an answer or even a photo detailed enough for me to tell by looking. I'm sure someone here at Atari Age knows with 100% certainty?

It used overlays for the color. Super Breakout generated its own color.
