rjchamp3 #1 Posted September 25, 2009 It sounds crazy but if your 72 pin connector for the NES goes out it appears that castlevania 3 Won't play right I tried my double the same thing happened WTF out of all my games the only one is castlevania 3 and YES it is an original nes. I was just wondering if anybody has ever seen this before
slosu #2 Posted September 27, 2009 Yep! Seen it before with Castlevania 3 and there are other games that will not play. These select games also will not play on the FC Twin and a couple of other third party systems and 72 pin connector. These games will not play on the FC Twin and some will not play with the 72 pin connector... "After Burner" "Battletoads" (the game hangs at the second level, however, if warps are used, this is passable and the rest of the game works perfect) Captain Planet and the Planeteers Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (works on FC Dual and Retro Duo System) Cheetahmen II Challenge of the Dragon Crystal Mines Dragon Warrior II Ducktales (Game works, but won't respond to the B button) Gemfire Laser Invasion L'Empereur Paperboy Pipe Dream Mad Max The Krion Conquest Uncharted Waters Gauntlet (Tengen version) Hope this helps Steve http://atari-man.xanga.com/
shadow460 #3 Posted September 27, 2009 (edited) Anyone had this problem with Athena? I have a cart of that which works perfectly at the store (I watched them test it), but it will not load for anything on my own NES. I replaced the cart port early this year and that still did not help. EDIT: I've a modified toaster with the 10NES from a Baseball game. Pin 4 is lifted out of the board. I'm running through the composite output. Edited September 27, 2009 by shadow460
Nukey Shay #4 Posted September 27, 2009 Why would you want to play Athena?
shadow460 #5 Posted September 27, 2009 lol, out of curiosity. I picked it up in a lot with about 20 other games.
Video #6 Posted September 28, 2009 IIRC, some games will not work without the boot chip. Many people say clip the chip when you get the new ZIF in there, but there are some games that won't boot without it....castlevania is one I believe (Th ereason that it won't work on the toploader, no lockout chip) Try reconnecting that wire, if you cut it, you can put a switch in, but really, if you got a new Zif, tishouldn't be a problem anyways. slosu #7 Posted September 28, 2009 but there are some games that won't boot without it....castlevania is one I believe (Th ereason that it won't work on the toploader, no lockout chip) All of my Castlevania's works fine on my NINTENDO toploader. It's the clones that are the problem. Steve http://atari-man.xanga.com/
