82joshk #1 Posted September 27, 2009 (edited) I was wondering if anyone knows/could direct me to a knowledgable resource for compatible a.c. adaptors for retro systems. Over the years, I have acquired many systems; several without A.C. adaptors. I've had this problem with RF cables but they're much easier to compensate for. Does anyone know of any adaptors that would be compatible with systems like an Atari 2600, Sega Genesis or SNES? Rev. Rob #2 Posted September 27, 2009 I was wondering if anyone knows/could direct me to a knowledgable resource for compatible a.c. adaptors for retro systems. Does anyone know of any adaptors that would be compatible with systems like an Atari 2600, Sega Genesis or SNES? Go on eBay and search for a universal AC adapter. I'll do it for you, here: http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1311&_nkw=universal+ac+adapter&_sacat=See-All-Categories Once you have it, just look up the specs for the console you want to use it for, and set the setting accordingly. I use one myself for a few systems that didn't come with AC adopters. (Damn you DINA 2-in-One!)
STICH666 #3 Posted September 27, 2009 NES, Genesis model 1, Turbografx, Master System, Sega CD and most of the nes clones run on 10V DC.
shadow460 #4 Posted September 27, 2009 Lots of times the adapters I need can be found at a thrift shop. Most, but not all, of the consoles I have run on 9 volts DC (10 is usually OK) or 120 volts AC. The stock NES adapter is 9VAC, but as was mentioned earlier, it will run just fine on 9 or 10 VDC. The weird ones are the portables. They go from 3 volts to 5 volts to 6 volts to 9 and 10 volts. One thing to watch for is the current rating. I've seen many consoles that take a 1 amp power supply at whatever voltage. All the multi voltage supplies I've gotten at places like Wal*Mart put out maybe half of that. A one amp, multi voltage brick with multiple tips is going to run you some money, but it might just be worth it.
