Bankswitching from the Hardware side

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any tutorials or diagrams etc of how some basic bankswitching works on atari cartridges? Was going to tinker with it in the future, but always find it helpful to have examples to learn from at first to get the hang of things.

Do you mean 7800, 2600 or the A8? Its different depending on the machine and what signals you have available on the cart connector.

I'm likely going to be looking at the 7800 with this mostly.

I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for but Dan Boris has schematics for most of the Atari cart boards on his site.

It's mostly my mind working overtime on possible cartridge formats without me really knowing exactly what's possible or practical. Will likely lead nowhere in particular but since I seem to insist on thinking of it anyway I figured I might as well see how technical I can write the ideas down. :)

You may want to check here as well.

Thanks. That's more on the programmers side but at the same time gives an idea of what's under the hood. The file looks familiar too... I wonder if I have it in my backups somewhere. :ponder:
