I MAED A GAM3 W1TH ZOMBIES 1N IT!1

Recommended Posts

I dont see that much in gaming, on the few times it does happen, there is a lot of praise. I can see the constant praise being annoying, but there aren't a lot of 'crazy' effect games out there.

Seems like I've seen more than a few in recent years, including the contamination of classic games:

I hope these games are like harmless little wild fires that pop up and burn out and they won't spread and grow into a huge Jeff Mintery inferno.

No joke. And fast paced has nothing to do with it. It's the constant effect around the sides of the screen and other irritating things.

A lot of music sounded funny to me in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and beyond. Age has nothing to do with it.

That has nothing to do with Jeff Mintery LSD style effects and various offshoots.

Ok I have cat like vision and and am able to handle stuff in my peripheral vision as a whole but focus on my character like a sniper!icon_razz.gif

I know plenty of friends that cannot play games to the higher levels like I do...here are afew:

Tempest 2000/3000

Geometry Wars 1/2

Robotron

Radiant Silvergun

Mars Matrix

GigaWing 1/2

Ikaruga

You may not like them but I do...

Some folks like MMOs I think they are garbage

Some people like Sony...icon_ponder.gif

I know my mom was one of those people that couldn't watch you play Sonic without getting dizzy..."I think they made that seizure warning just for her"

You really shoulda seen her run to the bathroom when I first got Decent on my PC.icon_mrgreen.gif

Man, my periphrial vision must suck, I didn't even notice the strobing border. I did notice the constant sweeping and color changing playfield, and what's with the ghosts and Pac-man having a flashlight or something? Beyond that the game had WAY to many power pelleets. But I did like the changing dot patterns. So I still play it.

I was tested by a couple of eye doctors when I was a teen, trying to figure out what was wrong with my eyes. One of the things we found out for sure was that I have a very wide field of view, supposedly wider than the average 'normal' person. Hold your arms straight out to the side and move them forward about a half an inch. That's my field of view. I see everything in that range and have a hard time filtering anything out. When I play a game, I don't just see the little guy I'm controlling, I see the whole screen and everything else in the room that is in my field of view. It's almost impossible to concentrate and focus on one thing. That's one of the reasons why the Jeff Mintery LSD style effects bother me. Besides the effects making it harder for me to concentrate, things like strobe lights and flashing screens hurt my eyes.

So people who can focus on one small area and cut everything else out will probably wonder what all of the fuss is about.

Here's another example I just remembered. Back in 2003, I got Super Bubble Pop really cheap for the Game Boy Advance. I thought it was pretty fun and it was easy on the eyes, so I bought Super Bubble Pop for the Xbox when I got the chance. It was horrible and hard on the eyes with all of the crap dancing around in the background as you can see here:

Interesting...

I got my father eyes.

He was one of the guys that could see a deer in the deep woods while driving on the highway like it was waiving at him.

I would catch most of them too, but my brother and step mom would even miss them when we would point them out.

I still think how amazing it was to go hunting with him..like he just sensed a animal near, then just nod his head in the direction like it was in a fluorescent orange suit banging on tin cans...

I know that I'm not as good as he was but damn close.

But ask me about my moms & sisters eyes or issues..Nightblindness,Popbottle glasses,Virtigo it goes on and on.

BTW Im also immune to the Headache,Eyestrain and whatever else comes from the VirtualBoy...except back aches

On my standard dev TV I never noticed the edges of Pac-Man CE. My standard def tv died. I just played Pac-Man CE on my 46 in HDTV. The pulsating edge about drove me crazy and I wasn't purposefully looking for it. I'd forgotten about this thread.

Uggh

I have a wide field of view and I spot all sorts of things other people miss.

Heights can give me vertigo. I'm not afraid of heights, I just feel like I'm going to fall over. It only happens when walking next to a ledge or something like that, so I guess that's note really vision causing it but some self defense mechanism. It doesn't bother me climbing.
