rxd #1 Posted October 5, 2009 Damn, what a great game this is...
moycon #2 Posted October 5, 2009 Agreed. I have all the achievements and still play it daily trying to beat all the extra levels they throw at you.
cimerians #3 Posted October 5, 2009 Ok....damit I gonna pay for it!!! I've had it for a month now (demo only) and I do love it. Not better than PJM in my opinion but VERY well done. Great game.

How does Pixel Junk Monsters (I assume that's what you're talking about) compare to Defense Grid? I absolutely love Defense Grid and would like to find more games like it. But most Tower Defense games don't measure up to this in my opinion. I downloaded the demo of PJM and didn't have more that a few minutes to try it but I wasn't really impressed. But I have to admit I didn't really give it a chance because I was in a rush at the time and the graphics didn't really appeal to me. Is it worth another look? moycon #5 Posted October 5, 2009 I'll have to admit, while I didn't mind PJM at all. Defense Grid blows it away in my opinion.

Its a cute version of a tower defense game. Its not military like so it depends on what you like in a tower defense game. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/848/848261p1.html To be fair I haven't played Defense Grid all the way through so I cant say its better than PJM. I think in the end they are probably both great. I'll be buying Defense Grid soon so who knows maybe it will turn out better? No big deal though. PJM is great if you have a PS3 you wont be disappointed in it. Edited October 5, 2009 by cimerians
moycon #8 Posted October 5, 2009 PJM is great if you have a PS3 you wont be disappointed in it. Oh yeah I agree with that PJM is a great also. They are both similar but oh so very different at the same time. Neither will disappoint if you enjoy these types of games.
rxd #9 Posted October 7, 2009 I bought PJM. It's a real interesting take on a tower defense game. Very good game, but Defense Grid is better IMO. PJM has been getting a good deal of playing time though.
Mendon #10 Posted October 7, 2009 I love tower defense games and was excited to try out the Defense Grid demo. But as I said in a thread in the PS3 forum, there was one main element of Defense Grid that I didn't care for: I didn't like that you when you kill an enemy, who is carrying a cell near the enemy entrance point, that cell is now picked up by another enemy who immediately heads for home. Frequently, there is no way to kill this new power cell thief, especially if he is heavily armored, because there is no way to have enough towers near the enemy entrance to prevent such a power cell loss. Thus you can't get a perfect score on a map. Maybe my dislike of Defense Grid is because the game objective changed from simply defending your camp from all invaders to stopping an enemy from carrying something off from your base and returning to the enemy base. Defense Grid is very well done but I just don't care for it as much as I do Pixel Junk Monsters and Savage Moon. Perhaps if it becomes a "Deal of the Week" I'll pick it up, but I'll pass on the game for now. Mendon

If you can't kill them before they make off with your power cell your using the wrong strategy. Either your using the wrong towers, not upgrading the right ones or not creating a maze they have to go through that gives you more time to kill them. That's the major thing in Defense Grid that's missing in PJM. You can't change they paths of the enemies. I think that adds a whole new dimension to the game. Plus the towers in PJM piss me off at times. What is up with the not shooting or the shooting and completely missing?
JamesD #12 Posted October 7, 2009 As far as tower defense games go, Defense Grid is one of the best I've played. But then it's still just another tower defense game.
JamesD #13 Posted October 7, 2009 (edited) There is a new South Park tower defense game if you want a laugh. Edited October 7, 2009 by JamesD
moycon #14 Posted October 8, 2009 There is a new South Park tower defense game if you want a laugh. Snagged it earlier and played it to level 4. I can't yet decide if it's my least favorite of the 4 available. (Crystal Defenders, Pixel Junk, Defense Grid, South Park) It's certainly not my favorite. cimerians #15 Posted October 8, 2009 Crystal Defenders was OK but it kind of got boring after a while. It seems the map never changed. I played wave after wave maybe over 20 waves and the map would not change. I didnt buy it but I kept the demo.

I didn't say it was good. It's worth playing the demo just to hear the wisecracks though. "Hey Kenny... are you still poor?"
nonner242 #17 Posted October 10, 2009 I'm pissed at this cheater on "focal point" I believe. I did many hours at Super Grider to try and get in the top ten. Well I got 2nd place, but should of got first. The guy above me had some ridiculous 400+ towers compaired to my 47 on that map and his score is like 100,000,000 higher than mine. Impossible not only the tower but the score. Not one enemy was able to make it thru 8 seconds of my maze. And I even had 2 command towers in the area.. Modder I believe, thats the only way. I dont get it. BTW I just saw that I'm 6 in overall damage done in the world...SWEET! I really got my money outta this game.

Guy had to be cheating. You're #1 in my book! Thanks, but its going to be a bitch trying to stay in the top 10 in overall damage I see, I alredy got knocked down 3 spots. Im going to try in stay in it as long as I can. Some of these guys are relentless...or jobless?
