Cleaning up a Gemini...

So, while I was at the local thrift store, I happened across a Coleco Gemini, in excellent condition with all the hookups and two controllers (I also found four Zellers games, though those were priced separately). Check it out:

I was able to get the two store stickers off easily enough, but does anyone have any tips on getting rid of the grease pencil writing? I've dealt with this kind of thing before from the same store, but I want to preserve the sticker in the top left if at all possible (It was applied at the factory).

Nice!!!!!!I want a Gemini.Problem is,everyone i find is cracked and busted up.They're a cool system.

I've had a few and yeah, the plastic (just like the Dina system) is more brittle or something. You have to be careful removing glue from these systems as using too much of that Goo-Gone or even rubbing alcohol will change the look & texture of the plastic.

If the label is glossy then I think an oil based solvent like CITRA-SOLV or similar would be best, but you need to be careful about not letting it actually penetrate the label.

You also might try an artist's eraser first. (something suitable for pastels) Just don't be too agressive in your attempt, or you'll roughen up the surface and lessen the chance of success of a solvent-based cleanup.

Try a regular pencil eraser. Have to go slow though. Maybe magic eraser as well. That thing is a miracle worker. It got many a scuff mark off my wall without being too harsh. If trying the magic eraser, keep it as dry as possible for the sticker of course.
