jeremysart #1 Posted October 5, 2009 I own one of the FC Twins that plays NES & SNES games, and it has been great for me! Just wondering if anyone has bought the new FC3 Plus that plays NES, SNES, and Genesis games? Whats your review?
Tom-Lynx #2 Posted October 5, 2009 I have one and I don't like it. It plays the games just fine, but the video quality isn't as good as the original machines. I think the makers of the FC3 decided to skimp on chip processing to save money.
Shawn #3 Posted December 1, 2009 Anyone got a compatability report on this machine? I ask as my wife is buying me one for Xmas, I really like the idea of a 3in1 but I assume most the "on a chip" incompatible games won't work like Castlevania 3 for the NES, Super FX chip games for the SNES, but is there any that won't boot on the Genny side? No, with the FC systems, all of the Super FX games for SNES do work. It has a pretty high compatibility rate. My only concern with Yobo is the quality of their controllers. How bad are the controllers? Am I gonna crush them do to brittle plastic or something? Are the non-responsive? How is the gun that comes with it? This machine takes stock SNES pads though right? If I have to replace the controllers thats not a big deal to me.
Austin #6 Posted December 2, 2009 What kinds of pads does it take? I remember the FC Twin taking Snes pads, but I could have sworn that this one takes a different type.

It looks to be SNES from the pics but God only knows what kinda pinout they have.

Shawn #9 Posted December 2, 2009 Proprietary connectors. Use the official fc3 pads or else... Ya I just looked a little further into it. They use an NES\SNES decoder for controller input so I'll be able to hack some Nintendo brand controllers for the SNES and NES to get past the button configuration issues and just use the ones that come with the system for playing Genesis games. Kinda cool how the got the NES controller signals to covert to Genny singals when you switch to Genesis mode. The input from NES and SNES are the exact same so I guess it only makes sense to use the more used layout as the standard and interally switch to the uncommon (in this case the Genny) when needed. From what I read the games that won't work on the Genesis side are: Game Genie, Virtua Racing & with Sonic & Knuckles only the original game works, you can't use sonic 3 with it. This is due to it not having all the connector lines attached to the GOAC. It's missing 5 address lines that the above games need to function properly. If I can figure it out I plan on fixing this issue.
Shawn #10 Posted December 12, 2009 I'm loving this console. I think every classic gamer should have one, and pimp it to the nines too!!
wccw mark #11 Posted December 13, 2009 i dont have the fc3,but i just got a gn twin from stone age gamer that plays nes & genesis games.i bought this as it was on sale for cheap and to save a little room on my shelves.its not bad, video output could be better, and i noticed some audio issues on a few genesis games.so far, every game i tried to play for nes & genesis played.the controller sometimes has an issue where if you switch to play a genesis game you have to unplug the controller and replug it back in.but once its in,its good.on the genesis side,it plays virtua racing which i read alot of genny clones dont play.havent tried castlevania 3 for nes yet. brak #14 Posted December 17, 2009 to anyone that has an FC3 by yobo... is it true that the B/A Y/X are swapped in NES/SNES mode?
Shawn #15 Posted December 20, 2009 I'm loving this console. I think every classic gamer should have one, and pimp it to the nines too!! Are you serious or is this sarcasm? I'm dead serious, this FC3 system is great! It's the best clone on the market by a mile. to anyone that has an FC3 by yobo... is it true that the B/A Y/X are swapped in NES/SNES mode? Yes, in SNES mode the controllers that come with it are not well suited. It's fine for NES and Genesis but not SNES. Here is a simple how to to get real SNES controllers to work on your FC3 and have proper SNES controller button layout and real SNES controllers working: Get yourself a sega extention cord or a genesis controller to use for the the controller cord. Get a SNES controller, or even better just buy a new one as the $5 SNES clone controllers are pretty good (what I use anyhow) $5 for a pair of SNES clone controllers -> http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390124698971 Take apart your Genesis controller and desolder the cord from the controller PCB (or just cut the cord off its up to you) Take apart your SNES controller and desolder the cord from the controller PCB. Then wire the sega cord as shown below in the attached picture. The end of the sega controller cord isn't exactly the same as the FC3 as the corners of the female conector are a little more rounded on the FC3, Just take a razor or even a knife and just cut them back to the proper shape, it takes a whole 3 seconds. Once I get a PAL\NTSC 50\60hz switch rockin' I'll post a guide for that too.
StoneAgeGamer #16 Posted December 20, 2009 (edited) Like its been stated before you can easily hack NES and SNES controllers to work with the FC3 (along with the GN Twin and GEN-X). I did it once with an NES controller on a GN Twin. If you are looking for some extra controllers to use to hack I do carry spare GEN-X controllers and I will be getting some more spare FC3 controllers in stock tomorrow. I also carry some SNES cable extenders that you could probably wire onto the FC3 connector so you don't have to ruin your SNES controllers. I do not have any NES extenders at the moment. Might get some in a few weeks. Edited December 20, 2009 by StoneAgeGamer
StoneAgeGamer #17 Posted December 20, 2009 Oh I would just like to say I would prefer you purchase the FC3 controllers if you plan on hacking. The GEN-X has been discontinued and I got the last 14 controllers Innex had. So once they are gone they are gone, plus the FC3 controllers are $1 cheaper since they are not discontinued.
