Gabriel #1 Posted October 10, 2009 Did anyone buy Nectaris? I haven't even tried the demo yet. I figure it's going to be much the same as the TG-16 game, and that wouldn't be a bad thing. What I'm kind of interested in are the multiplayer possibilities. How long does it take to play a satisfying multiplayer game? I love Commanders: Attack of the Genos, but it takes several hours to play a game. If my friends and I have the time to play Commanders: Attack, we also have time to play Civilization Revolution, and that is a much richer and rewarding experience. So, do multiplayer games of Nectaris play fairly fast? Is the game even suited to multiplayer?

On par with playing someone on Advance Wars. I was a bit disappointed that the campaign seems to be an identical rehash of the original game, but if you haven't played the Turbo one, that's not a bad thing. The original campaign is great, I've just played through it a bunch. So, to answer your question, yeah, it's pretty quick. Good game, well worth the money. NE146 #3 Posted October 12, 2009 I'm a pretty big fan of Nectaris/Military Madness, but I'm slightly dissaspointed with the xbox live version. The game is there, so that alone is good. I mean, it is Military Madness. But it's just the little enhancements that just make me think "they could have done it better". For example, the models all look just too similar. The turbografx version had very distinctive & unique looks to each unit. But on this one I have a hard time telling the tanks from the artillery from the air units sometimes unless i put the cursor over them to read what they are. And the size of the units seem to be all almost the same. It's just a little dissapointing that the Giants end up looking to be about the same size as the Rabbits amongst other things. The music is ok.. it has that Nectaris feel. But when you start "winning" (or losing), the music doesn't change to the happy (or ominous) tune like it did in the Turbografx version. They really should've kept that in there. There isn't really any fanfare when you capture a base either. On that note, it's hard to tell which factories/bases are yours, or neutral since the colors are so muted. Also, you no longer get a visual of what units are in a factory as they only show you a text list of what they contain. Also, I wonder how easily someone who hasn't played Nectaris/MM before could get into this game. Unlike the originals, you have to pause the game and go through the start menus to read any unit summaries (all text I might add) about their capabilities and other information. The original had that info right in the in-game combat menus along with graphics. It just seems like a 2-bit quicky port done by half-ass sub-contracted programmers. It could have been a lot better.
