So, what consoles do you currently have hooked up?

Recommended Posts

I keep the following consoles hooked up:

  1.
  2. Genesis
  3. 32X
  4. CDX
  5. Saturn
  6. Dreamcast
  7. Xbox 360
  8. Astrocade
  9. Vectrex
  10. NES
  11. NUON
  12. InteractiveVision

Of the ones that aren't hooked up, Channel F gets a fair deal of play, so does the Atari 7800, and the Odyssey^2 does whenever I pick up a new game. I've been playing (or trying to) the DINA lately with Ninja Princess and Lode Runner because it's my SG-1000 and ColecoVision compatible console... which I hope to rectify, because it's a piece of shit. The InteractiveVision is about to go back in a box because my son isn't really so into Sesame Street anymore. Either the Channel F or 7800 will take its place on the shelf. Microvision gets play too - I love that thing.

I pretty much never play the Studio II or Arcadia 2001 because they're awful. I'll bust out with them when friend's come over to give them a taste of "shitty games that suck ass." Same goes for the Tiger Game.com and Virtual Boy. Once in a while I'll be feeling sadistic and bust out the Jaguar only to remember why it's put away in the first place. I just had the Odyssey out because I am working on a homebrew and I was testing out PCBs. Just waiting for an artist to finish up the box art/overlay art, and it's ready to ship. But you can't play it without a second player.

I tell myself I am going to practice on the Miracle Piano, I just don't. I originally bought it to resell it ($25 at Bookman's), but once I played it I realized it's pretty damn cool and useful. And I haven't uses my XaviXPort in a while because I've been running on the street.

I haven't been able to put a lot of money into the hobby in recent years, so some of my collections of actual games are puny. There's about a dozen 360 games that I really want, and plenty of NES, Genesis, Saturn, Coleco, N64, PS2, PSOne, and Dreamcast games. Plus, I still need to pick up an Intellivision, 3DO, and SNES.

In order of favorites I have the 7800, Dreamcast, PS2, Wii, and 5200 hooked up currently and will be adding a Genesis and NES most likely to those.

I just don't have room to hook up all the systems and Bean's DVD/VHS combo died so the PS2 is in there temporarily.

I haven't had a chance to really get myself rebuilt since the move and the bad summer. I usually have all of them up. :)

What I do have right now is:

Bedroom - Panasonic 3DO, Playstation 2, Intellivision, XBox 360

Living room - Nintendo 8-bit, Super Nintendo, Nintendo64, Nintendo Gamecube

Just the PS1, and barely used in the last 6 months.

Every other one (not that there's many) is packed away.

XBox - no idea why I bought it, probably had 6 hours use in nearly 2 years.

CD32 - one of these days I'll give it a good workout.

7800 - don't have many carts for it, so barely worth the effort to set it up.

Right now, just the PS3, although the Xbox (original, modded) is also sitting under the TV, but it's not hooked up. Not playing a lot of old games lately, well, not playing a lot of anything that isn't Fallout.

After I moved a few years back, I haven't hooked much up. Right now I got an Xbox 360, a PS2, a Game.cube (for the Gameboy player) and my vader 2600. That's about it.

Right now I just have the PS2 and Dreamcast hooked up. Wanted to tidy up the cables and stuff all around the room so packed most of them up until it comes time to go playing'em. :)

The ones that are hooked up right now? NES, SNES, Genesis, 7800, Action Max & Wii. The rest are in their boxes on a shelf cause they are not used enough to justify being left out and hooked up.

I sold my collection a few years back, but I've picked up a few old systems again in the past couple of months. Right now I have a modded XBOX, a Playstation 2, a Dreamcast, and a Jaguar hooked up.. I've been having a weird hankering to get a 3DO again and have that hooked up for a bit. Seems to be not exactly the easiest thing these days to come across a complete one.. Hm.

All of my consoles are set up so that they can be running in under two minutes, although they are not physically hooked up to a screen. All I have to do is plug in A/V and power, and any console is ready to go.

My LaserActive is hooked into a permanent connection, so are the NES and a PS1. My N64 is currently hooked up to the Line 2 jacks that I use for many systems. The RF connection has my 2600 hooked to it almost perpetually.

As for portables, the ones that are charged and ready to go are a Game Boy Classic and a color Game Boy. The rest could be used with their power adapters, but they are not ready for an excursion at the moment.

The only system I have that's not ready for use is my 5200.
