What I think of motion control.

Recommended Posts

Hence the words "I think",

But what you ment to type was.... I think Natal could be the worst of all of them.

Otherwise it looks like maybe you've actually tried it out.

I'm glad you made this thread though. I was just thinking the other day I wonder what Daytona thinks of the motion control industry so far.

I was voicing my concern and unhappiness about the future of gaming, and I figured people would be smart enough to understand it could be their soundboard to voice their opinion as well. I see you have confused this though, thinking it's a place for absolutely no input other than to leave useless dry sarcasm. Differing with my opinion is fine. Snide comments however are pointless.

Unless someone is talking about a game coming out, all of what we type here is our opinion. Laugh all you want, but you seem to spread yours across these boards more than anyone else and no one seems to care for good reason. It's normal.

What are you talking about? Where exactly did I state my opinion differed from yours? What did I type that gave the impression I was confused? (Although I admit I am now) You made a bold statement about a product, and I questioned your wording because it implied you actually tried that particular product and if you had, I would have liked to have known where so I could try it as well. That's it guy. Anything beyond that is in your head. You did the same thing and jumped all over my ass in the Demon's Souls thread as well. People make a post, you think they are posting something against you, so you jump all over them, sarcastically suggest they are stupid, then you preach about voicing opinion and not being sarcastic to others??? Jeeze.

Lighten up Daytona. I laugh as often as I can, in fact that's why I visit a video game forum, as an escape, to get a chuckle and discuss one of my favorite pass times. Yes it does often makes me smile and sometimes even laugh, you should try laughing more yourself sometime, instead of jumping all over someone because you don't like what you THINK they just posted! LOL

I can just not respond to anything you post going forward if you think my posts might upset you. Kind of defeats the purpose of going to a public forum though if you ask me.

BTW I agree with you. I don't think much of the motion controls right now, although on the Wii there are games it works pretty decently with (usually simple games) they are really just kind of novelties to me and I think Natel will probably tank.

(Please don't jump all over me for agreeing with you)

Point taken.

Btw, here is something zero punctuation did back at E3. The beginning of his video is kinda how I feel about it. I feel like the "hmmph" people in his video.

Motion control is a mix of good and bad.

I'll start with the bad.

It's a gimmick on far too many games. Just how many games can they release that make you do stupid things with the controller but have almost no other entertainment value?

Lack of precision. You can tell me how wonderful it is on this game or that but when the onscreen character doesn't do what I want as easy as with a regular controller then I'd rather have a regular controller.

Swinging the controller around makes it more difficult to operate games that require a lot of buttons.

Now the good.

Swordplay. Lets face it, if the control is responsive, it's the best way for swordplay.

It's a great party controller for sports games.

Fishing games... what better way to cast your like. Ok, I'm kinda kidding here. Fishing games aren't my idea of fun but if you get your kicks casting from the couch you'll love it. Hmmm... that gives casting couch a whole new meaning. :D

With the right FPS is can be a good controller, but we are talking 'House of the Dead' type of FPS where you have environments with limited movement and you are just moving the gun around for the most part. Other FPS games... not so good. Basically, a lightgun replacement.

I guess it's the only lightgun alternative we have for non-CRT screens at the moment.

Other FPS games... not so good.

I completely disagree; control in Metroid Prime 3 and The Conduit is fantastic, much better than dual-analogs. I love dual-analog control for FPS; I love Halo and MoH, etc, but nunchuk+remote is better.
