VectorGamer #2 Posted October 20, 2009 I don't like the look of an Actiplaque label on a freshly painted cart. Also, I don't know that a cart is the best surface for a coaster - cork gives more grip.
+save2600 #3 Posted October 20, 2009 (edited) Another shortsighted example of wasting peoples time. Coasters are meant to absorb the sweat of your glass, protecting the table or whatever underneath and prevent your drink from sliding and/or tipping over. All you're going to do here is create a liquid mess, ruin labels and cause spills because the coaster sits too high. I have a real nice Moody Blues coaster set, where someone cut the middle of the vinyl LP out and shellacked the hell out of 'em. They then glued perfectly cut round cork underneath. Looks super cool and professional. Of course, if you wanted to use it as a 'coaster', you'd tip the thing upside down and place your glass directly on the cork. Needless to say, these coasters will never be used as such Edited October 20, 2009 by save2600
Retro Rogue #4 Posted October 20, 2009 The labels are glazed over, so they're protected. But really, what's next? A 2600 toaster?
Video #5 Posted October 20, 2009 Yeah, I see the label getting weta few times and tearing up. That's $15 well spent. I do kinda like the Idea, but if it was me, I'd cut the front label part out, fill the inside with epoxy or something, put a cork layer in, and set the pic back in as an inlay (so the liquid building up on the surface would roll off and into the interior cork piece) That...or open it up, take the guts out and slap cork on the inside, you need a coaster, you open the cart and set the label side down and the cork inside is what you set the cup on (it would probably be more stable too, than setting a tall glass on an inch thick cart....) Now that idea, I like! You could still have the image of Atari whatever (box or label) on the opposite side of the cork too. Sounds like a sensible product now.
