genesis/segacd/32x combo complete how much?

Recommended Posts

I was recently going through my old stuff and came across my sega stuff. I have many genesis, 32x, and sega cd games. I was planning on putting it all up for sell.

I was able to find pricing guides for the games, but not the controllers and consoles themselves. Anyone know where I could find that info? I have the genesis model 1, sega cd model 2, and 32x combo. All omplete with all adaptors and hook ups. I was planning on selling it as one whole unit instead of chopping up and selling each separately.

Also, what's the best way to sell the games? As one big lot or separately? I have a few games that are worth between 50 and 70 bucks.

Thanks for any help I get.

I'd personally say sell the console seperately. If it was a model 2 sega, I'd sell it as a set, but it looks weird to have a gen1 stuck to a CD2 (functionally fine though...as far as Im aware)

Wow...50-70? for a Genesis game? What games are those?

yeah, I'm wondering too. m.u.s.h.a. is about all that comes to mind. snatcher comes to mind too but it's higher, into the omg-firstborn range. but others above $50?

anyway, breaking this all up is the best way to go. Lots are how people get deals. make sure to test everything first, and state that its been tested. Folks like me, for example, won't bid on hardware that doesn't specifically say that it's been tested.

If you don't have the special magic wire that connects the base unit video to the 32X, the 32X is worth approximately zero. The mushroom is rather useless without it. (And maybe add a few bucks if you still have BOTH versions of that cable, or sell it separately.)

Do you have the systems boxes? Some people like the completeness of having there items in the box. I'd say if they are loose, then put them together. Its unfortunate that you have a model one Genesis with a model two Sega CD, cause that just looks ugly. Making sure they are all in working order is a must though.

I don't have the boxes for the systems. I do have the Genesis manual.

Castlevania and contra are both worth about $50 cib. Lunar for sega cd is worth $70 cib. T-mek, Kolibri, and Knuckles Chaotix for the 32x are all worth $50 cib. The sega cd ram cart is about $50 as well. Moonwalker is also almost $50. Almost all the games are cib.

I have over 100 of these games, so I can't list them all right now. I'm still gathering everything to get ready for auction.

I do have all the cables.

I also have the justifier light gun, an incomplete menacer light gun, ascii gamepad, sg fighter stick, capcom soldier controller, genistick, arcade stick, and turbo touch controllers as well as the standard 6 and 3 button controllers.

Only 3 of the games are loose and 3 without manuals, but still with the box. 4 are used from blockbuster, so they come in those yellow rental boxes.

It seems as if you are aiming a bit high with your estimates of the prices of your games. If you look at the Digital Press rarity guide it would give you a better estimate of what you should be prepared to sell or recieve for them.

Even looking on Ebay quick I was able to find (all CIB like yours), both Caslevania and Contra for under $20 each shipped. Lunar for the Sega CD, is selling for just over $20 shipped. Knuckles is selling for $20, the Ram Cart is about $35... I just think that your expecting a bit much for your games than what the market is paying for right now.

I think the price on the original Lunar for the Sega CD has dropped in price. You can probably get it for about $30 these days (It used to be worth $70 though, and higher). Eternal Blue may be another story altogether, but I have a feeling that one has dropped, too.

I don't believe Castlevania on the Genesis goes for $50. It was a re-released in a cardboard box when Majesco took over and added that extra year to the Genesis's lifespan, thus making the game more common. This site has it for a little over $30 complete. Sometimes their complete values are according to typical market value on the product, but sometimes they are also higher: http://www.estarland.com/SegaGenesis.cat..product.4672.html

Contra Hard Corps is just about the same story: http://www.estarland.com/SegaGenesis.cat..product.4700.html

Regarding other Genesis games that may go for over $50, asides from MUSHA, you're pretty much looking at import titles never released (in cart form) in the US. Alien Soldier is one, Undead Line is another, and I'm sure the Mega Man: Wily Wars pack in Europe goes for a lot of money as well. You can check those on ebay, there are a few of each up there right now.

If not everything is complete and the collection seems a bit mis-mashed, you may just want to sell a huge bundle: Each of the three systems together, with all 100+ games included. If you try to sell them all individually or in a few separate bundles it can be a pain when it comes to shipping. Huge bundles with lots of good pictures taken have always worked pretty well for me when it comes to getting rid of my systems on eBay.

This is where I got my prices.

How much would you guys pay for the whole combo system with all the hookups? maybe all the controllers too as one lot.

I have both Lunar games. I double checked. Silver star is 60, but Eternal Blue is $120.

I don't have the digital press guide.

heck even that's a bit rich. On amazon I was able to do complete lunar for around $15 just a few weeks ago. eternal blue did cost me almost $30 though (ebay buy-it-now).

I'm on a genesis kick, but even I can't tell since some punk hasn't shipped me the genesis2 I bought a damn month ago to replace the dead one between my cd and 32x.

eBay is flooded with Silver Stars right now. They're only $60 because everyone is setting them with buy-it-now at those prices. They don't seem to be going anywhere, though. Check "completed" listings that were actually bid on regarding your bundle. I am sure there have been plenty of similar large bundles recently and you can gage how much you might be able to get through that.

Just out of curiosity, what games are out there that are worth $50-$70?

If we're only counting domestics...

  •
  • Spider-Man: Web of Fire goes for about $150
  • World Series Baseball Starring Deion Sanders goes for around $60
  • I haven't seen a copy of Blackthorne sell in a while, but they could be around $50 now. They were in the $30 to $40 range last time I've seen any listed.
  • Snatcher has already been mentioned
  • Keio: Flying Squadron goes for about $60

That's all I can think of.

It looks like Shining Force (one of the few "important" Sega CD titles I don't have) has been going for $40-$60, but someone still lucked into a copy for $15.

I think the only game I got that's worth anythinhg is Gargoyles. And it's not because of th3e game, it's dirt common (like $2 range on Ebay) but I got it CIB, and it's one of those shitty cardboard boxes, so that's fairly rare. Still, I could only see it going for $35 or so (what I paid to get it years ago, maybe there's a lot more now?) All the rest of the games I got are probably the $2-$5 range, with maybe a handfull over $10

For the Sega setup....Without controllers, I'd say 60-100...depending on the mood of the bidders. I have no clue what the arcade sticks and guns are worth, I've never had any.
