Arjak #1 Posted October 23, 2009 Have you ever gotten a deal on an Atari game (Ebay, Garage Sale, whatever) that was so good that you couldn't believe your good fortune? Post about it here! Note: If you haven't yet received your great deal from an auction site, don't post about it until you receive the goods. This way, no one can attempt to get the seller to con you in a side deal! I would like to start the ball rolling, but I can't, due to the above.
+thegoldenband #2 Posted October 23, 2009 (edited) Well, earlier this year I went to a yard sale that advertised Atari stuff, showed up right at the start, and got all of the following for five bucks: - a 4-switcher with no power adaptor - an Atari Jr., also no power adaptor - 3 joysticks (one third-party, all a bit stiff) - 2 sets of paddles, with jitter in only one - 2 driving controllers in great shape - plus 40 games (3 duplicates, no rarities, all loose carts) I felt pretty good about that one. The joysticks were pretty dirty, but everything else was reasonably clean. Edited October 23, 2009 by thegoldenband
Cebus Capucinis #3 Posted October 23, 2009 Today I just picked up an Atari 1200XL with 1010 cassette player and a lot of CIB games complete and working for $65.00. I didn't know anything about it but apparently that's a really great deal! I'm currently cookin' up a side deal on Craigslist for some crazy-valuable carts for $5 each. Crow T. Robot #4 Posted October 23, 2009 A friend of mine thinks he saw a copy of "Air Raid" at a Flea Market. He's not a collector. I was showing something about rare games. He pointed out the similarities. It was a blue cart shaped like "Air Raid" but didn't have a label. It was in a box with a bunch of 2600 games marked 2 dollars each, 3 for $5. I'm headed there tomorrow to see if it's still there. I hope it is and is in fact "Air Raid". *Fingers Crossed*

Arjak #7 Posted October 24, 2009 Well, the package has been shipped according to Ebay, so I guess it's safe to bend my rules a little. So, I was checking out the Atari games on Ebay, when I came across a pair of deals that I couldn't pass up. Someone was auctioning Swordquest: Earthworld and Fireworld, both MIB, with a starting bid of $0.99, and no reserve! I'd never seen copies like this before! I tried to hold back, but I couldn't resist. I placed bids, and I won both of them. Earthworld: $5.08 + Shipping Fireworld: $4.32 + Shipping Not a bad deal if I do say so myself. I have a question: Are these games worth anything mint in the original shrinkwrap? Is it okay to open them and make them my main copies, or should I save them and sell them?
+save2600 #8 Posted October 24, 2009 Save them in the shrink. Maybe in another 40 years or less, all of us that grew up and were duped by those crappy games and their faux contest will have died. Only people left will think you've got a couple of gems there LOL! No seriously... don't open them and make them your main copies. They horrible games that really have no point to them and I think most here will agree.

chupathingy #17 Posted October 31, 2009 I have two deals... (the second one isn't Atari related but it's a good one.) First one happened to my friend Tim. This guy's family has a real knack for finding things, like the giant projector he found on the side of the road. Anyways, I was hanging out at his place playing some Dreamcast through the aforementioned projector, when his dad comes home from work. He yells through the window, "Get outside, I have something for you!" Tim runs outside and I think nothing of it. About 5 minutes later he comes back with a giant box in his hands and a grin on his face. "You're not gonna believe this one." Seven. Seven friggin 2600's, all Heavy-Sixers, all hookups, controllers, power packs, various games and six copies of E.T. (he had seven before I left. ^.^) All for free, if I remember correctly. Ok ok, my sweet deal is for an Amiga, not Atari, but man, I think that the epicness of this catch makes it acceptable. At ECCC (Emergency Chicago Commodore Convention) I managed to snag an Amiga 1000 with monitor, mouse, keyboard, hard drive, external disk drive, software, manuals and a Ben Heck-autographed Commodore 64... for ten American dollars. Someone tried to buy it off of me for $200, but I refused. I just wanted to play some Megaball, man. Also got to see and hear a MIDIfied VIC-20. That was neat. NilBud #20 Posted November 1, 2009 Being I'm new I suppose this would be a great thread to start in. Vader 2600+2 joystick controllers+paddle+20 games. $
Kurisu #21 Posted November 1, 2009 With a little clean up and repair, I have 3 new functioning units: Sunnyvale Heavy Sixer Sears Telegames Light Sixer, with functional but broken game select and game reset switches. A Vader in amazing condition (no loose switches, unlike my 2 woody units) 70+ games, 11 controllers, and 2 of those plug and play games. All for 100 USD + shipping costs, from eBay. BIN went from 200+ to 100, so I HAD to take it. The games are all mostly R4 or lower: I do not think there are too many rare things in there, if any beyond that, but there are new gems to me, like Venture, Ms Pac-Man, Phoenix, and the like.
