Why would children care about lighters that look like 15-20 year old video game systems? Also, it's not like "cool" lighters are not available in America.

When you cannot have cigarette ads on tv or a cartoon camel as mascot anymore, I am sure a video game console can be twisted in some nut jobs mind that it is going after kids.

Yeah also considering that when those consoles came out the the kids that owned them are now 18+.

Agreed. I want that Megadrive one so bad but really? 10k yen!!! That's around $100 US. I would love a Model 2 Genesis and CD though. That would look about right to make into a lighter.

Also a little trick to translating Yen to USD. It's really easy. just figure that they forgot decimal points like 1 yen is 1 cent. So 500 yen would be 5.00 dollars.

Er...are those Butane, or are they typical Zippo style? I'd go for an awesome zippo with a Genesis on it, but not a butane one, as most have issues with refilling, and I can't see paying that kind of dough on one to maybe not work after running it out.

I also love the genesis lighter. Looks much cooler then the saturn one. Would be a great sega slogan: Why need gigaflops, when the genesis sets every other console on fire.

 

Those are zippo lighters. Look at the bottom of the lighter.
