Beetle
Hi folks, Mimo: cool to see it in smallest a8, too. Here is my 1200XL: The installed VBXE upgrade, OS eprom modification in the works. I used XE Adaptor board. People asked how to mount the ST monitor jack - i used hotglue. Thats what the back looks like now. Headphone jack for stereo pokey output. The channel switch does now switch between 2 OS :-) Does your 1200XL run Ice-T terminal emulator that sharp? I love VBXE! +Stephen
Stephen , Go back and re-read post #15. You are referring to the wrong guy. D'oh - that'll teach me. OK - now two questions for candle. What is that mystery PCB, and why is your 1200XL startup screen blue and not black? Stephen Anderson
candle
i'll start from the last one because it run long enought that atract mode started the board provides clearance for another boards - as AOSD module and io-board possibly PBI bus in near future
Beetle
Cool, 1200XL is now a capable photo display. Watch your favorite usermeeting pics on a suitable system! Pictures are 320x240 pixels, 256 colors out of a 24 bit pallete. Looks really neat on a 1084S. Edited November 4, 2009 by Beetle
Thorsten Günther
yep can you buy these new? Digi-key has > 3000 in stock - $2.85 US In Germany, at least Reichelt has them in stock, too (didn't bother looking up Conrad). They were not only used by Atari, but also by Aiwa, Kenwood, Clarion and Blaupunkt (among others, presumably) to connect car CD changers to the car radio. They're a PITA to solder, though, that's why I started harassing Beetle with this issue (although my VBXE didn't arrive yet). flashjazzcat
Hot melt glue crept up into insides of 13 pin DIN socket... had to order another one. More delays...
Rybags
You could probably get some out with a hairdryer... that stuff is supposed to melt at only 70 Degrees C or so.
flashjazzcat
You could probably get some out with a hairdryer... that stuff is supposed to melt at only 70 Degrees C or so. I managed to salvage it, but it looks a little scruffy now. I'll fit the next one with the plug in...
Rybags
How many are you building? I'm not decided yet on my socket type ... kinda thinking of using a standard VGA D15 socket - I've got this old 15-9 adaptor cord lying around which would let me plug straight into the 1084. Just the one. I meant the next socket when it arrives in the post. I was going to go for a wide DB15 socket until I noticed the 13-Pin DIN idea. The thing I like about that is that there's no hacking of the case required.
candle
the one i (almost - i don't have din8 socket yet) did for Heaven additional 3 pins of din8 will be used for RGB, and the remaining 5 provides backward compatibility with standard monitor cables (you can plug din5 jack into din8 socket)

Mathy
Hello Candle Wouldn't the din7 of the power supply also fit into the din8 socket? greetings Mathy
candle
nope i've used din8-262, you can't fit din7 into this standard din8 is 280, din8-262 is as the one used in commodore
Mathy
Hello Candle So the din7 will not fit, but the din5 will? Will you have to solder 8 wires to the din8 connector or will five of the pins drop into the five wholes in the motherboard? I've seen a din10 connector on the internet. I guess both din5 and din7 will not fit? greetings Mathy
