ApolloBoy #1 Posted November 9, 2009 I'm planning to mod my Sears Light Sixer for S-video but I want to be able to do it with as little fuss as possible. What's an easy way to mod one for S-video and composite video?

About Longhorn, sent him money, no mod kit. This was back on September 30th. Anyone know what is going on? Edit: nm... just got an email from him. ApolloBoy #4 Posted January 3, 2010 So is there a mod I can do that doesn't involve installing one of Longhorn's boards? I'm strapped for cash right now so that isn't an option for me.

I know cash is tight for a lot of people these days, but for $25-$40 for one of Longhorn Engineers kits, you probably couldn't get parts to do something on your own for much cheaper (I could be wrong). My advice would be to try and save up for one of his mod kits if you're not in a rush. They are really nice and work great. I've got one installed in one of my Heavy Sixers. If you don't want to try and save for one of his kits, maybe someone else can offer up a less money out of pocket solution for you.

thebiggw #7 Posted January 4, 2010 (edited) Last I heard Longhorn was waiting on some new pcb's he had ordered. (I am thinking he got that order by now but not sure) But if you look through his site he has very good instructions. He offers the complete parts list and the wiring diagram. (That is fair amount of research and worth the money by itself let alone the kit.) I have bought 3 or 4 mod kits from him and they work excellent. tz101 #8 Posted January 4, 2010 use this one from ben heck http://benheck.com/book/support/Atari2600VidMod.htm Looks promising, but is there another that doesn't require removing the RF unit from the main board?
Havok69 #9 Posted January 4, 2010 Check out Longhorns site - he lists the schematic and parts so you could do it yourself for cheap, especially if you have a bunch of parts on hand. However, I priced the parts out, and you're looking at $18 from Mouser. So, I just ordered his parts kit for $25, it's actually a better deal since you get his board and just have to solder everything. Plus, with the excellent documentation he also posts on his website, it's a no brainer. And if you want to have a good laugh, check out this dude's review of the kit. I still laugh when I think about his "review." Boy does he suck at Bezerk...
zylon #10 Posted January 5, 2010 I've ordered a few of Longhorn's boards and I'm going to try using the traces instead of the chip legs to keep chip swapping easy. Otherwise, they seem pretty straight forward to me. I've resisted modding the systems but finding those 3 pin rf units is getting much tougher.
