And today's the day all the podcasts change their format for 1 episode. I didn't have enough energy to change over to the Final by FantasyCast. I still like the Halloween format where Podcast A masquerades as Podcast B, like comic strips do on AFD.

I'll check out Ten Pence to see if it can fill the gap....the earlier episodes had audio issues, but I downloaded the (recent) Dig Dug episode and I'll check it out at work tomorrow.

Ten Pence Arcade is an excellent podcast and there's no issues with the audio quality now. The hosts Alex and Shaun have great chemistry, keep on topic, do their research and really know their games. Even with No Quarter around (and hopefully back soon) it was worth listening to for the different perspectives (UK vs US, and arcade collectors vs not). Highly recommended to check out if you haven't listened in a while.

April fool's episodes so far:

BrokenToken - an episode that's less than 7 hours, consisting of outtakes

ANTIC - 2-minute episode

Atari 2600 GBG - Chocolate Chip Cookies with Bob the Baker

Inverse ATASCII - an all-Siri voice episode. Rather surreal.

And other podcasts I haven't heard yet.

It was awesome to hear Fer....uh, Bob speaking with such unequivocal authority about baking. It's the family trade, after all. The episode got me excited to bake up some chocolate-chip cookies (with real butter, dammit, not one of those tubs of near-Crisco -- good call, Bob!). It was also cool to hear Bob and Miss Sarah's great laughter; it really picked up my Wednesday. No wonder you two are still kitchen partners after so long. Humor is incredibly important.

A new podcast has entered the pinball ring!

For Amusement Only - A podcast about EM pinball machines & bingo games. Already 21 eipsodes in?

https://www.facebook.com/foramusementonlypodcast

Cool, I will give this one a try. I am more into older EM machines and I also see episodes on "pitch and bat" games, "single ball horse racing games", etc. Thanks for mentioning it...

The Retro League Podcast said they have changed there format to a game by game podcast. Hopefully its just April fools .

Yes it is. They also have a regular episode this week. I think Ferg totally influenced their April Fool's episode this year.

BTW, no fooling from me. My episode this week was released on April 1st, but I didn't have the extra time to even come up with an April 1st idea.

I guess that's the joke: "Here's a regular episode on April 1st! Didn't see that coming, did you?"

But you DID find time to include bits of Ferg's April Fool's podcast in yours. ;) Really well done, Sir!

Dean Swain & Paul Davies return in what can only be described as the most strange episode of the show so far. The guys somehow manage to crash a jet and end up stranded on a desert island with only a handful of retro systems and games to keep themselves entertained.

ANTIC podcast interviews Jerry Jessop.

Years ago, when I had damaged my PS1 w/ some combination of controller extension cord & 3rd party controller, I went online asking for help. Jerry heard my call & helped me thru it, graciously mailing me an assortment of chips, unsolicited. Thanks to him (& a certain amount of dumb luck & my VERY basic soldering skills) I fixed it!

I'll always be grateful to Jerry. What a great guy.

Hey Guys!

Thanks for the suggestions for improvements to our show a while back. We've taken them to heart, and I'm pleased to say we've been re-invigorated! We've cut down on the pinball talk added a console segment, and try and provide a much more thought out and robust episode. Also, a big deal for us, we turned 50 today! Not a big milestone for some, but as a monthly 'cast, it's taken us over 4 years to get here, lol. Also, I'm pleased to announce that we've been picked up by GeekDad (formerly of Wired.com) to be part of their new GeekDad Podcast Network!

So if you haven't listened to us in a while, please give us another shot and let me know what you think of our new format. Thanks again! Keep this great thread going, it's such a valuable resource!

No Quarter is back. Rob O'Hara is the new co-host, filling in for Carrington Vantston. I predicted as much, as Rob's into the arcade games. New RSS feed & new domain name.

Rob O'Hara is great, we know he loves games, but I miss the very goofy and always amusing Carrington. Mike + Carrington were an odd match so there was always fun to be had. Mike + Rob are too similar in my mind so instead of macaroni and cheese, now we just have macaroni and macaroni. Or Laurel and Laurel. Or C-3PO and himself. You get the idea. I'm disappointed but you can't make someone stick with a podcast, I suppose. It will be good for Rob to have someone to play against.
