2600 Three's Company

Recommended Posts

Whew! After over a year of waiting, I finally managed to tape the episode of Three's Company where Jack and Janet are playing football on a 2600! I got some screenshots as well as a 63 second video of it over at TAT.

Have fun. ;)

Heh, I just noticed that the 2600 wasn't even plugged in the entire time they were playing it!

The difference between men and women is the way they hold their joysticks. :D

And those are some SKILLED actors, look how they respond to a game they aren't even playing! I meant, what would it have hurt to at least put a cart in the slot, or even, forbid!, plug the thing in and let them play it! Did the producers think we are that stupid?

I agree with you there. John Ritter (and Joyce DeWitt) are great. I can't wait for the Three's Company telepic! (It'll be similar to the Gilligan's Island and Brady Bunch TV behind-the-scenes movie.)

Three's Company is my favorite sitcom of all-time. :)

As for there not being a game in the 2600... It would probably be DISTRACTING for the actors to have a real game on there. And the timing of the game vs. the reactions would never match. I can understand why they weren't really playing, but WHY there wasn't a cart in the slot is a bit baffling. Maybe someone forgot... Or maybe it blocked the view somehow. Who knows.

How about Jack playing left handed with the joystick? Hard to hit the button that way unless you rewire it and turn it 90 degrees!! I wonder if he thought to do that? Great find, I love it! 8)

That show rules! I feel old, I used to watch it when it was NEW.

Actually playing an Atari with no cart inserted is more fun than playing an Atari with Pacman inserted.

I've noticed whenever I show someone the atari and they either have never played it or haven't seen one in 17 years, they always hold the joysticks wrong!! :) :(

It looks like women are better because she can actually press the fire button!
