Cebus Capucinis #27 Posted November 22, 2009 (edited) So wish that was the case AX. Wrong time, right place I suppose. At an age where I've been there and done that... almost no energy left to try to foster a nubile's curiosity. She probably listens to shit anyway and voted ignorantly for some undefined "change" :-( I fail to understand how a Hallmark employee asking you if your interests are arcade games somehow immediately and logically leaps to "let's just go ahead and insult the person you may (or may not, because, you know, the conversation had absolutely nothing to do with politics) have voted for", but then again, I don't wear tinfoil hats and I'm not that particular blend of clinically insane. People don't really say anything when I wear my Pac-Man shirts around, but I don't wear them often enough to elicit a response. atarian63 #28 Posted November 22, 2009 ...She probably listens to shit anyway and voted ignorantly for some undefined "change" :-( She may or may not have been "ignorant" but the "change" was anything but undefined, had you taken the least bit of initiative and actually checked it out. But no, you probably voted for Mr. "Straight Talk" and the Queen of Wasilla. Funny how the "Straight Talk" dried up when he became the candidate of his party. And the Frank Burns of female Vice-Presidential candidates just can't stop herself from bleating moronic, to this day. It's getting so bad even Mr. Straight Talk's campaign staff are throwing her under the bus. And to think she was one step away from the second-highest office of the land. Yah, you betcha. Would have been way way better than the unrepairable, deplrable mess about to go down now.
Cebus Capucinis #29 Posted November 22, 2009 someone call the mod police, the P&R seems to be getting a bit thick in here.....I just want to wear my friggin' Galaxian shirt, not listen to people needing to call the waaaaahmbulance because their political ideologies are not in the majority at the moment. Cebus Capucinis #31 Posted November 22, 2009 (edited) Whaaa yourself and wear your shirt and ST_U. Ooh! Cool! Will you also allow me to vote for whoever I want without complaint? Didn't think so. Crap like this is exactly why Al doesn't want politics & religion discussed, as all it does is resort in people acting like a pack of feral monkeys and insulting each other left and right. +atari2600land #35 Posted December 13, 2009 I get a lot of comments about my Atari underwear...the number one one is "put some pants on!" j/k. I want the Atari underwear. I saw them in today's Target ad. Too bad I don't go there.
NightDriver2600 #36 Posted December 13, 2009 I have a shirt with an Atari joystick and the words "old skool" on it, but I don't recall anyone ever commenting on it. I do get comments and strange looks from my C:\DOS\RUN shirt though.
Kurisu #37 Posted December 13, 2009 C:\DOS C:\DOS\RUN Run DOS, Run!!! Gotta get me one of those. BTW, on topic, I finally tracked down that green represent shirt, and wear it alot. No one says much, but work people do notice when I wear it up there: seems they believe my random retro game talk isn't just BS, lol.
Longhorn Engineer #38 Posted December 13, 2009 I was walking down Guadalupe a couple weeks ago with my Atari shirt on and some homeless dude yelled at me that "Intellivision is better MAN!".

Chris Leach #40 Posted December 13, 2009 Whenever I sport my Atari shirt and go to the mall, I like to walk past the booths in the center aisle or the middle of the mall and they are always asking to demo their product or do I wanna buy. I just point to the shirt and say "I'm wearing an f'in Atari shirt, do I look like I want my nose powdered?" You tell me, sometimes people just don't understand. phaxda #42 Posted December 14, 2009 I see the "Keep Austin Weird" ethos is alive and well! Awesome story. (Maybe it was George Plimpton--some people say he's the Elvis of sportswriters.) carmel_andrews #43 Posted December 14, 2009 I did see someone walking through Soho Square (central london) wearing a Blue/white atari t-shirt...I smiled to myself 'the blokes got good taste' mind you this was a few years back
stirrell #44 Posted December 14, 2009 I mentioned this in the ST forum, but I have a Busy Bee icon hat that I wear quite a bit and I have never gotten a comment. Not once. I realize the ST wasn't huge, but I would have expected to run into a fellow owner at some point. My Atari shirt has gotten some comments. The worst experience was at Disney World where one of the employees asked me to give a thumbs-up and then proceeded to use my hand as a joystick. I should have made a fist with my other hand... I also have an "I Love 8-Bit" shirt which has gotten some positive comments. Mostly of the "Cool shirt" variety. My Combat tank dreaming of being a real tank doesn't generate much discussion nor does my 2600 Adventure "Bad Respawn" shirt. The bad respawn shirt shows the bat flying away with the sword and the hero being surrounded by dragons . My old Atari shirt has been retired recently so I will need to pick up another. I see that they have them at ThinkGeek.
Eltigro #45 Posted December 15, 2009 I have a green ringer tee that has the Atari logo on the front. People say, "Wow, that must be an old shirt." But it's not... well... now it's about 10 years old, but it wasn't then... I also have one that is a stylized NES controller... like this one, without the girl... http://rlv.zcache.com/nes_controls_tshirt-p235244657132923811o0j3_400.jpg Someone once said, "I don't get it." I said, "What?" They said, "Plus equals period period..." I just laughed.

mos6507 #47 Posted December 15, 2009 I'm kind of wondering what the role of Atari in pop culture is these days. I know it was somewhat hip to walk around with an Atari T-shirt maybe 10 years ago (Remember the movie Road-Trip?) It used to be kind of a hallmark of being a GenXer nerd in his dot-com 1.0 prime. Now I think it's become a little more awkward. Let's face it. We're getting to the age with the thinning and graying hair where themed T-shirts in general is a little awkward in general. We're all racing towards this:
