wojnest
Hello , it's my first post on this forum. I have a question, how to regenerate the Atari 1027? The printer has not been used for many years.
+save2600
Hello , it's my first post on this forum. I have a question, how to regenerate the Atari 1027? The printer has not been used for many years. The ribbon or the daisy wheel? I have a friend that used WD-40 on the ribbon that brought it back to life. lol New Daisy Wheels can probably be had from Best Electronics. I think there was just a thread about this somewhere in the 8-bit forum...
jaybird3rd
Unfortunately, the 1027 can't be restored. This issue has come up a few times on the Atari 8-bit Computer forums recently: the 1027 print engine used a rubber print head, and since they are nearly 30 years old now, they've all succumbed to dry rot and decay. You can certainly ask Best if they still have any, but I read in another thread that they tested their stock of new 1027 print heads two years ago, found that they crumbled almost immediately upon use, and threw them all away. Since nobody has manufactured them in many years, this leaves you out of options unless someone decides to make new ones, and I wouldn't count on that happening any time soon.
