CGQuarterly
These shirts are interesting in that I don't see why younger people today would want to wear them when they didn't grow up playing that stuff. That would be like me running around with a "Chico and the Man" shirt on. It's before my time. Maybe the primary customer of places like 80stees.com are thirtysomethings like me who want to pay homage to their childhoods, but I tend to suspect that it's more the Hot Topic crowd. I don't get it. Maybe it's like the people who take great pride in listening to bands that you've never heard of. "You're playing Modern Warefare 2 on XBox 360? I'm working my way through Shatterhand on the NES right now. Oh, you've never heard of it? Hm." Chris

jeremysart
It is a dumb shirt. I don't like any of the gaming shirts that gave stupid saying on them, like "represent" or whatever. And yes, there are a bunch of trendy kiddo-s that think they are from the 80's because thats the kind of junk the emo bands they listen to put out. I was shopping with my wife the other week ago, and at one of the teeny clothing stores we went into, the poster showed a bunch of teen girls sitting around some old board games, and there was a boxed 2600 on the table. I guess its "in" to be "old school".. And it pisses me off because I grew up playing games on systems they NEVER heard of! I want a shirt with a picture of an Intelevision on it damnit! And yes, I agree about being frustrated with all of the "trendy/poser" crap. Take solace though, it won't last. Check out the... ehm... product demostrations at the bottom of the page! I'd hit that, indeed! I agree: don't sweat the trendies; some may dig deeper after the initial exposure, others will give it up sooner or later for another trend.
