Where to get a green ST case LED?

I am after two ST case LEDs in green. I have two 1040ST's that I rebuilt but had to use STE keyboards and those have a green LED and the 1040STf case has a red LED so you can guess what that looks like when powered on! lol

might be better replacing the green led with a red one.

theres a model airplane product called instant window that can me made into a clear or green tint to fill the void of the original red plastic piece i've used it with blue led's

just squeeze out a bit and mix blue green or what ever color you want food coloring and it dries translucent in about 2 hours

put masking tape on the front of the case and use another tooth pic or xacto knife to fill the hole from the back side looks professional when done

Has anybody tried to paint an ST all black? All black with green LEDs could look amazing on a 520 or 1040.

I painted my Falcon all black (well, the parts that weren't recased).

Cool! I was thinking the Falcon's keys might work since white keys would look bad.

 

I think for a black ST I'd want a smooth finish with a clear top coat, but I think that would take a lot of prep work as the ST's case is slightly pebbled.

I did a spare 520STM case in white, looks quite lovely. Just need to de-yellow the keyboard and she'll be ready to rock n roll

Now I could use some of that, but I can't for the life of me locate it with Google or ebay.

resurrecting this thread -- anyone know of a good source for color-matched green, right-sized LEDs for the ST? Thanks!

I really don't get threads like this. LEDs are regular components, available in every better electronic shop, since about 1975. Only that blue LEDs appeared much later.

Main difference between green and red is drop voltage - green needs some 2.7 V to open, red about 1.6 V. Atari certainly used standard size LEDs, so should be very easy to find.

Ordering it from not cheap Best looks as really bad idea. Pardon, Worst idea

Look at those Chinese online show like Deal Extreme. They have packages with various led sizes and colors for very little money. Good if you want to experiment with electronics
