Coleco power supply?Alternatives?

Recommended Posts

Maybe this has been addressed before, but is there an alternative power option for the Coleco?

Looking at it,I dont know if its possible to buy a ready made plug for it or not?

I have 4 working consoles but only one actual power brick,so figuring out another viable hook up,would be worth it to me.

I posted before about a guy on ebay who was claiming he had original power packs, but they arent....and the ones I do find are priced at 10-15 ea,with no promise they work.

So,anyone have any ideas,or creative hook ups?

I think i read a post where newcoleco said it could be replaced by a PC ATX Power supply.

Of course you will have to adapt the plug.

Hi have 4 working CV System too, 3 of them are Canadian unit

The only power supply that doesn't work is the US one

I think you should get a Canadian Power Supply, they tend to be more reliable ;)

Just my two cents :)

So,where can these replacements be found?

Are the units your referring to,the ones that the guy on ebay is selling?

when discussing modding,whats involved?

Concerning modding,

You have to get the plug (the connector) from an old none working colecovision powersupply.

And then remove the connector from the PC ATX and rewire the cable in adhoc manner.

On a OLD (before 2002) PC ATX powersupply you have all the voltages you need for a colecovision. After 2002 , the -5v becomme optionnal , and after 2004 it is removed from spec.

ATX pin out :

You will have surely to jump to wire of the ATX Powersupply to make it power on.
