ClausB #1 Posted November 26, 2009 Is there an 8-bit Atari emulator which runs well on an old 100 MHz Pentium under W95 or DOS? Thanks!
HiassofT #2 Posted November 26, 2009 Is there an 8-bit Atari emulator which runs well on an old 100 MHz Pentium under W95 or DOS? You could try "Xformer". I used the DOS version back in the old days on a 386 and a 100MHz Pentium and the performance was fine. It's not as sophisticated as current emulators (for example when it comes to exact emulation of POKEY and ANTIC), but it works fine for basic stuff and also older games. so long, Hias
Rybags #3 Posted November 26, 2009 If I remember rightly, there was POKEY, and the older version of XFormer didn't use a standard Windows interface. They ran kind of OK on older machines, but often below 100%
miker #4 Posted November 26, 2009 You may also try some pre-PLus Atari800Win versions. They're available here.
