nathanallan #1 Posted November 26, 2009 Okay, so I have this thing and from all the reviews it's a good one. This one wasn't in any bundle, just the stick. ANY arcade stick for $15 is a good one, and this one looks like it might be great to add Curt's CX-40 upgrade kit to. It has plenty of buttons and YES they are all on micro-switches, and lots of room inside the case (I haven't actually taken it apart yet but it's really big). Also has a nice metal base, so it has some weight to it. Does anyone have one of these? I don't have a functional PS2 to hook it up to at the moment, so I was really thinking this would be great as a 7800 or USB joystick (or both). Opinions on the ones people have? the.golden.ax #2 Posted November 26, 2009 It is my PS2 stick of choice, I bought two of them (CIB) on release day for $99 each with Tekken 5 and fleshed out on box set (they came with a special box to keep all the Tekken game up to that point). Course they made 6 and now the collection isn't complete. But anyway, awesome controller, and great price! AX
Jess Ragan #3 Posted November 27, 2009 I bought the game and controller a few years ago for the full retail price. Oy. I was a little non-plussed that the joystick wouldn't work with some of my OTHER Playstation 2 games, including Namco Museum 50th Anniversary. An arcade joystick that doesn't work with arcade games? Man, that's just wrong. Also, my stick had a stuck button, and I couldn't find a reliable way to make it push down smoothly.
the.golden.ax #4 Posted November 27, 2009 I forgot about that. One of mine had a stuck button when I got it as well... I just opened and removed the button, took it apart and shaved a bit of plastic off inside where the friction was. It was like that on day one, just snug parts. That could be the problem with yours. nathanallan #5 Posted November 27, 2009 The buttons on this one seem to travel okay, I checked when I read that up above. Ax, are the buttons easy to take out? Even if I don't use it myself, it makes a great model on what an arcade stick should look like as a reference. At the price I paid for it (at Game Crazy no less) makes it a great modding candidate. So it doesn't work with all games. That's odd for sure. Has anyone ever used one of these with the USB converter??
the.golden.ax #6 Posted November 27, 2009 I could be wrong but as I recall they are simple with white screw on plastic nuts (okay, that line was just funny, and you know how I have the mentality of a 5th grader so... ) AX
keilbaca #7 Posted November 27, 2009 (edited) I absolutely love the joystick. I modded my Tekken 5 stick into a much bigger wooden box so that I can use it at a great height when sitting it on the floor, and I modded the joystick to work on the xbox 360. I used a cheap $25 controller from Gamestop. Its by far my joystick of choice, and playing Street Fighter 4 online is amazing with it, and with Mushihimesama Futari 1.5 coming out, I'll be playing the game with that too. It works fine with a usb converter. Mame is fantastic with it as well. Edited November 27, 2009 by keilbaca
