Cave releases their first region free game!

Recommended Posts

Did anyone else pick this up?

I love Cave shmups, and the first Mushi is what really intrigued me to playing them.

After hearing that they are making a sequel to my favorite Cave game to the 360, I was ready to buy a Japanese 360.

Then they made the announcement that they will be making this game region free, in which I about had a heart attack at work.

I awaited patiently for the release of the game to come out. Anyone else interested in getting this?

Its SOOO much fun. Its VERY hard, and it is another puzzle, bullet hell shmup.

I saved some replays in which as soon as I can get them to youtube, I will.

They added in the Arrange mode from last time, but this time you can pick the difficulty. I finally did my first one credit completion on any mushi game, on original difficulty on Arrange. On original difficulty playing normally, I can get to stage 3 without dying or using a bomb... then things go downhill. So far on Arrange mode, Original difficulty, I'm up to 1.35 billion.

Anyone else get this amazing game?

 When I first got mame, I d/led only Cave games to try it out. This is spectacular news. The 360 really has been the dawning of a new shmup mega console.

AX

You still have to import the game from Japan from your favorite places, like www.play-asia.com but this is the first game to be region free.

Nice! My favorite on MAME is DoDonPachi.

I'd really love to get this, but I just can't justify paying the $75+ it would cost to import.

i have been playing this game non-stop! I downloaded black label too which I am finding more fun than 1.5 and it seems easier too… I'm trying to get through maniac right now on BL though I should play more original as I was getting to stage 5… I might be able to 1cc original BL after getting used to maniac…

also $75 is well worth it since the PCB sells for like $800… but also it's only worth it too if you are serious about playing shooters challenging for hi score and 1cc's… credit feeding it will just taint the game and the full experience of shooters will not be realized by credit feeding and getting to the end…

Ouch, $75. I won't pay $33 for Raiden IV.

why not?

especially considering that Futari is one of Caves best and the PCB is close to $800… and the port is pretty spot on.

well worth it to me as well as the extra $15 to download Black Label…

I've been spending at least an hour a night with Futari for weeks now and I still can't get enough… progressing closer to 1cc and improving my scores along the way :D

This is great news, Death Smiles was NTSC-JP only. I hope Cave's next release, Espgaluda II, will be regionfree too.

it is with deep regret that ESPGaluda II Black Label will likely be region locked :(

Futari being region free was a test to see how well the western audience would receive their game and there was little impact in sales figures…

the best thing to do to enjoy all (and future releases) shooters without worry is to obtain a NTSC-J xbox 360. I made the jump when RFA was released and DOJ BL and Ketsui were announced back in the spring of 2008. For serious fans of shoot em ups a J 360 is a must!

I do wish they were region free as it would be nice for my more casual friends to experience these genre of game and better understand my obsession LOL!

Of course there's going to be little impact to sales figures--Your average gamer knows zilch about importing, most 360 users don't even know there are region-free games out there, many of the hardcore users already have Japanese units on top of their US consoles for games like these, and the most important one--Excellent shooters even for $30 don't sell well over here, so what kind of boost were they expecting when import prices are over double that?.. Regardless, I don't see how making it region-free affects the end production cost for the handful of US fans that actually want to buy their games, so what's the point in not doing it? I doubt it would hurt anything at all.

I would like to get this one, but import prices are out of my league these days.. I guess I'm not as hardcore as I used to be. Espgaluda II is tempting, though, as the original is one of my favorite shooters, period.
