FeistyGirl #151 Posted January 12, 2010 OK I've been playing with mine for a few days now, and here is my laundry list of likes/dislikes LIKES - It's compatability is very good. So far it works with all of the games I have used in it. And from what I hear from others it's probably some of the best compatability out there - Wireless joysticks are fantastic! - Speaker is loud! I was very surprised at how loud the speaker actually is. - TV Out capabilities - IT'S A PORTABLE SNES!!! DISLIKES - build in D-Pad feels very mushy. Was hard to control Starfox. Good thing it came with wireless or this would be a dealbreaker for me! - Mono sound. Boooo... some games have fantastic Stereo effects, all lost - Odd headphone port. Standardize it for god sake!!! - Screen is a bit blurry, but then again so were TVs in the 16 bit era Overall though I definitely think it's a great little system, and well worth the money. If you're an SNES fan it's just too cool to have...

Actually, the system itself does support stereo sound, why they packed in a mono AV cable is beyond me (to shave a penny off the price?) but you can get the cables. Luckily, one of my old cameras came with exactly that cable (which is odd, cause the camera could clearly NOT pick up stereo sound Populous...if I gotta use a console cart to make it portable, oh god, I want the SNES one to work (instead of the weirdly working SMS cart on GG)
figgler #153 Posted January 12, 2010 Populous...if I gotta use a console cart to make it portable, oh god, I want the SNES one to work (instead of the weirdly working SMS cart on GG) Populous I hated SNES Populous until 2007 or 2008. I remember a friend lending it to me when it was new and just completely ignoring it since it looked clunky and was way too hard. More recently though, my tastes have obviously matured quite a bit and I must say Populous is one awesome game to take with. I emulated it on DS last time I went to Cuba and it totally made the airport waiting not suck
StoneAgeGamer #154 Posted January 12, 2010 (edited) Hey guys I just want to make something clear. I got a message from a member who placed their order on December 21 and hasn't received it yet, so they were concerned. This person ordered through FC16Go.com thought this store was an affiliate of my store. This site (FC16Go.com) is not owned, operated, or affiliated with StoneAgeGamer.com in any way. This is OldSKoolFool's site. The person must have been reading the thread and just saw the link and ordering thinking it was my site. If you did not actually order directly through StoneAgeGamer.com then you did not order it from me. Which is obviously fine, you don't have to order from me, but please do not confuse StoneAgeGamer.com with any of the sites OldSKoolFool may have posted in this thread. One last thing. I don't want this to seem like I am attacking OldSKoolFool or that I am saying if you ordered from him you won't receive your item(s). I really have no idea. I just wanted to make it clear I had no affiliation with him or any of this sites. Edited January 12, 2010 by StoneAgeGamer

If you're an SNES fan it's just too cool to have... Concerning the D-pad. Thankfully it is all one piece underneath. I was experimenting this morning. I took a blank DVD case, cut a disc the size of a penny, USD. Took some tape and centered this over the four buttons. This creates a better gaming experience. It gives you the sense of more control and accuracy. If you are like me, I use the center of my thumb on a traditional cross button D-pad. That is why I find the four button atrocity so awkward. Star Fox plays so much better now! Now I need to figure how to attach this so as to make it permanent.

Just be careful, you just want to glue the disk to the D pad, not the pad to the hole (I saw the pic and thought you jacked he disc off of a non working PSP or something )

I put a drop on the top of each button. I could never go back to using this thing without this simple mod. It makes a world of difference in responsiveness and control. edit: I do need to find a better glue. Super Glue will not hold up under heavy use long term on this type of plastic. I just wanted to make it clear I had no affiliation with him or any of this sites. I just wanted to put my take on this after reading some posts on Old Skool Fool. In my personal experience, the retrobitgames.com site is a scam. The guy Oldskoolfool kept my money from PayPal and never sent my product after I ordered back in December. Of course I eventually got my money back from PayPal through dispute but it was so irrating. The info on that site retrobitgames also has a bogus address in Reno which really sent my red flags up. And thirdly, what's up with him not using his real name?? What is he hiding from is my question...

Luckily, one of my old cameras came with exactly that cable (which is odd, cause the camera could clearly NOT pick up stereo sound Hey were you able to confirm that this works? Anyone able to get stereo out of this thing? If so I am all ears!

Yea, I got a mono adapter once a while ago for something else and didn't know. I was very surprised to hear it only come out of one set of speakers haha. A good way to check is if the male end of the adapter has two rings or one ring around the metal tip (should be a black ring, or in the case of Apple peripherals, white). If it's 2 it's stereo, one it's mono . Edited January 21, 2010 by DaytonaUSA
FeistyGirl #163 Posted January 22, 2010 You are sure its a stereo adapter and not a mono adapter? 100% Positive. 2 rings AND said Stereo to Stereo on the box. How about you guys? Anyone gotten confirmed stereo? If so what did you use?

I just used the Chinese POS ones that came with it Using the earphones that came with it and playing a game like StarFox, you can tell that it is stereo. Baffles me why they couldn't have added that extra piece on the TV out cord. Using headphones and having to use that right shoulder button is awkward with that jack being so close. I was hoping to give them away for free to anyone who orders a FC-16 Go, hopefully they work in stereo or they will be useless. Video #168 Posted January 23, 2010 I don't know what the one I had that hooks to the TV, it was a pack in with my dead camera (DXG506g...I believe) but it's got three of the plastic ring(four separate metal pieces) and is alight bit longer than a regular headphone jack. Damn, if it's hard to come by, maybe I should have kept it, but I figured it was a standard camera part (or camcorder, since the camera was intended for video as much as pics) I'll have to dig through my crap bin and see if I can find something else that may work now
StoneAgeGamer #169 Posted January 23, 2010 3 rings normally would be a video output with stereo sound, which makes sense for a camera.
figgler #170 Posted January 28, 2010 Okay well my unit died today, the screen did anyway. It worked well last night, but when I fired it up this morning it’s nothing but rolling whiteness, regardless of the game. I can tell that system still works as I can hear the sound, and theoretically I could play it, but of course I can’t see enough to do so. I figure I powered up the unit maybe 60-70 times in the 5 weeks I’ve been using it and although it’s knock off hardware, I kind of expected it to last longer than it did. I can’t afford a replacement right now and today at least I question whether I even should. Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know. I’m pretty disappointed, no more SNES on the subway

I’m pretty disappointed, no more SNES on the subway Wow.. did you maybe leave it charged too long? A voltage surge while charging maybe? Either way that really sucks. I just hope mine lasts now. I was playing DK Country 3 and Cotton 100% last night without any issues at all. In fact, it acted it's best last night than any other day I've played it haha. Is there a warranty on these things? I know contacting some small Chinese company might not be easy, but I'd assume the handheld would be assumed to work for at least a 90 day period of time before it's "your fault". I don't know how technical you are, but if there's no warranty, maybe try opening it up... sounds like the wires that hook up the board to the display came off/came loose. If you're ok with soldering, this might be an option for you.
StoneAgeGamer #172 Posted January 28, 2010 Figgler PM me your order number or your full name. Depending on when you ordered we might be able to replace this unit for you. It might not actually be the screen that died, but an issue with the LCD/TV switch. As for warranty, good luck, there really isn't any manufacturer warranties on these things. If they truly are broken most of the time we can ship them back to Yobo.
figgler #173 Posted January 28, 2010 Wow.. did you maybe leave it charged too long? A voltage surge while charging maybe? I don't think so. I was charging it at work only after the power started blinking indicating it needed it. I hadn't ever left it in overnight or anything like that Figgler PM me your order number or your full name. Stone, that's pretty nice and appreciated. I certainly would never fault you for anything to do with this unit, nor would I expect anything more than an "oops, that sucks", so even if I'm ultimately SOL, then hey whatever, but thanks for giving a shit and making an effort . When I get home tonight I'll run another test and connect to the TV to see if that works or not.
