jeremysart #1 Posted December 10, 2009 (edited) Got the three red lights yesterday. Ironically enough, I got it RIGHT after sending this message to the person I bought it from, "I have had it for two weeks now, and it seems to be in great condition, thanks!", then I go upstairs to play Fable II and.. RROD'D!! Two questions: About how long should it take to get it back, it shipped 12/10. Will it happen again, or does the Microsoft repair fix it for good? RROD'D!! Two questions: About how long should it take to get it back, it shipped 12/10. Will it happen again, or does the Microsoft repair fix it for good? 3 or 4 weeks possibly as the reconditioned modles are only under warranty for 5 months Well as they send you a reconditioned one I would not think they repair it for good.... moycon #3 Posted December 11, 2009 To answer your first question, I've sent back 360's five times. In each case I received it back within 2 weeks. I live in GA though so location might be a factor. To answer your second question... It can't be answered. If anyone honestly knew the answer to your second question, they would be the worlds first real psychic. Lord Helmet #4 Posted December 11, 2009 My original 360 has been sent back twice for RROD issues. The second time it happened I was in the middle of playing Mass Effect. I didn't want to wait until MS sent it back, so I went out as soon as it happened and bought a new one so I could keep playing. The new one has been solid. The old one is still running strong as well (maybe the second time they fixed it they got it right).
iswitt #5 Posted December 11, 2009 I just sent mine off on the seventh. Get on www.xbox.com to track your package. They received mine and started repairs within two days, so maybe it'll go faster than they estimate. I think that when the RRoD problem initially hit, a high percentage of people were sending their consoles in at once, backing MS up and actually making it take four weeks. Now that it has died down some, it'll probably take 2-2.5 weeks tops since they are not getting such an influx of repair jobs. I know people who have never had any more problems after a fix (as of yet) and also friends who have had to send their consoles in multiple times. The latter of these groups have opted for PS3's in some cases, which to my knowledge have not had any serious hardware problems.

I've never had a problem with my near-launch unit, but I've heard far too many stories like this one. Returning a system once is acceptable (annoying, but acceptable), but five times is the point where you start thinking, "Maybe I could get by with my Wii..." +HammR25 #7 Posted December 12, 2009 I just got RROD about 15 minutes ago. The system has a 7/01/2006 build date on it. This is a repaired one that I got from Microsoft though so even their fix doesn't really fix the problem. I'm just going to go buy an Arcade and give the next repaired one to my sister and brother-in-law.
