I forget the answer to this..

Recommended Posts

Had a 360.. sold it. Had about 30-40 XBLA games on it. Went to a friends house and played Trials HD. Great game! I love how you can see your friends progress and beat their scores and stuff. I have a renewed interest in the 360 again and kind of want one.

I see there's a license transfer thing on Microsoft's website that I can transfer my games to a new console. I think that requires me to have the old console still, right? Is there a way to get all my games back?

You just "recover" your gamertag on the new console or hard drive.

Once your gamertag/account is on that 360 you can download all the games/videos/dlc/etc. you owned before and you won't be charged for it.

After that yes, you can actually register your account to that console, but it's not 100% necessary. All it does is allow you to play the full versions of stuff even if your 360 is offline. If your 360 is always online, it's not that big a deal. But most people would probably recommend registering it.

I'm wondering if you can do the transfer manually from the xbox.com site, if you never registered the first console.

Seems to me the sites shows the number of items you have downloaded and which system they are tied to. Not sure if it does that if the console wasn't registered. In any case you most definitively will be able to re-download those old games for free, and I'd think you could get the license transfer done if not manually from the site, then just call them and explain the situation and ask them to do it.

Thanks for the info. Damn that Trials HD. It's a good game and making me want a 360 just for that alone.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to in the first post where it looked like I needed to have my old unit.

I erased everything before I sold it. Maybe instead of Elite I'll pick up a lesser unit.

So, what's the latest one to get these days? Last I checked it was Falcon model (which I owned) then another came out, Jasper. Is there one later and instructions on spotting it in the wild?

Jasper. Is there one later and instructions on spotting it in the wild?

If you are buying a new one, there is no need. They are all Jaspers now.

You could always just try the license migration and see what happens. One would assume you would need the serial number on the old console for this to work. When I transferred mine the other day it knew I owned both consoles but then the first one was shipped to me from MS after I got RROD so they definitely knew it was mine.

Otherwise you should probably call MS and see what they have to say about it.

I am sure there is a need, because I'm sure there's still old units on the market.

They stopped making them in 2008. Unless you are doing your shopping at Fast Willies Warehouse Closeouts and live in the boonies you'll be fine. Besides that, every holiday season they release a new bundle, this year it's Batman/Pure. If you see a Lego Indiana Jones/ Kung Fu Panda bundle...avoid it, it might be an old one, altho honestly I haven't seen one on shelves for ages.

I suggest Amazon, you'll save lots of $$$ not paying tax on the purchase.

I get you. I do remember when the Indy/Kung Fu bundle was out.

Toys R us has lawaway. Maybe I'll go see if they have the 250GB model. We're getting our bedroom set soon and eventually I'm going to put a 37 or 42 inch LCD in there. The 360 would be nice from bed.

I ended up getting that Batman bundle. I don't want either of the games, though. The Sears I went to never got in the 250GB model. I have it on Layaway, so every two weeks I have to pay $53. I'll probably have it paid off in January between birthday money and checks.

Lego Batman is that what you mean? It's actually a decent game in my opinion. I beat the hell out of it like most of the Lego games, but I thought it was much better than Lego Indiana Jones. Might as well give it a try it's worth next to nothing on eBay because of the bundle.

I'm not familiar with lay-away. Do you have the system now, or do you have to pay it off before you get it?

Layaway is where I put down a deposit (20% of the price), they physically pull the merchandise off the shelf and hold it for me until I am finished paying for it. Every 2 weeks I have to go back in and give them more money towards it. I get to have the item when it's paid.

Layaway was popular many years ago, but in the 80's and 90's a lot of people stopped doing it. It just wasn't popular as credit cards are the big thing. Recently a few retailers started to bring it back somewhat due to recession I guess.

I like it because I don't have the money in my hands or bank account to blow on crap. I'm working towards something.

We have a bedroom set on Layaway also. $999 for 8 pieces (2 dressers, queen bed, nightstand, headboard, footboard, etc). If I decide I don't want the item they will refund my money minus like a $30 fee or something. As long as I keep coming in to put more money down on it they'll keep holding it for me.

Oh that is too bad, I was hoping you had the 360 already. I guess it wont be too much longer!!

Nah it won't be much longer.. my Birthday is the Jan 13th also, so I usually get some cash.

I think there was a thread here, so once I get my system I'll have to update on which live games I have. I know I had about 30+ live games.
