Videogamecollector123 #1 Posted December 17, 2009 Hi, I just got a set of NES games where all but one have no screws in them. I got them for free though, anyway I just wanted to know if there are any places that sell extra NES game screws or whats the screw size if I just have to go to a hardware store and get them. All of them are official games.
Herbarius #2 Posted December 17, 2009 As far as I know there are two "types" of NES Cartridges, and only one of them has screws, while the other one closes another way... But you are sure yours all are supposed to have screws, i.e. there are empty screwholes?
Videogamecollector123 #3 Posted December 18, 2009 Yes most of them have empty screw holes, I've never heard of any without screws
Videogamecollector123 #4 Posted December 18, 2009 Anyway I think the best option right now is going to be just go to a hardware store with a cartridge and look for screws that fit.
Herbarius #5 Posted December 18, 2009 Oh, sorry, I mixed something up. I was actually thinking about that some carts have 5 and some have only 3 screws.
Videogamecollector123 #6 Posted December 18, 2009 Well I've heard of those cartridges, but they both use the same screws right?
Herbarius #7 Posted December 18, 2009 As per Wikipedia, the 5 screw carts have 2 longer screws and 3 shorter ones, while the 3 screw carts have only the 3 shorter once... so the short screws should be the same on both, but the 2 longer ones from the 5-screw-version are different. Videogamecollector123 #8 Posted December 18, 2009 Well all of the ones that I have are three screw ones so I'll just stop by the hardware store tommorow with one of them and look for some screws that fit
tz101 #9 Posted December 18, 2009 Both the 3-screw and 5-screw NES carts use the same sized screws. There were never any "longer" or "shorter" ones. You might have a problem finding something similar at the local hardware, as they are minutely small. Probably better to go to an electronics part store or Radio Shack.
