A couple ST questions

Recommended Posts

I'll start off with a brief description of my setup which is needed for my HD driver questions. I have a Mega STE (TOS 2.5)and a standard STE (TOS 1.4) computers. The mega, of course has a built in HD and is currently configured with AHDI, I forget the version, but I doubt it's the newest, it's from '89 or '90. My standard STE has an ICD 'AdvantagePlus ST' HD interface/host adapter connected to an HD. What I want to do is to use my ICD HD interfaced HD on my Mega STE in conjunction with the built-in HD. AHDI, at least my version, won't recognize the ICD AdvantagePlus ST host adapter/HD when plugged into it's DMA port. Can I use the ICD HD driver software in place of the AHDI software on my Mega STE? Or what? IIRC, the ICD HD driver software is from '93. I don't have internet right now at home, so I'm at the library and so I don't have the specifics at hand. Any help is appreciated. Also, does the ICD HD driver/ICD 'AdvantagePlus ST' software and hardware work for CD rom too, or do I need a special CD rom interface and drivers? I.E. can I plug a standard CD rom drive into my ICD host adapter? I got the ICD AdvantagePlus adapter/interface used without a manual of any kind. I know it works with zip drives, as I use one with it.

Now onto Neodesk version 3 desktop picture question. When I rename a Dega or Neochrome pic to neopic_l.xxx to use as a desktop picture, it displays the picture, but it use the desktop's saved default pallette, essentially screwing up the picture, and attempting to find and change the pallette to the correct colors manually is near impossible and extremely time consuming. So, how can I get the neodesk desktop colors to change to those of the picture file's pallette? There's absolutely no mention of this problem in the Neodesk manual, and while I know I "view" the info file and see the desktop pallette assignment numbers, and possible use a text editor to change them, I don't know how to "view" the pallette color assignments of the picture itself. But I'm hoping there's an easier way than these above possibilities that I'm missing, or maybe a program or desktop accessory that can solve the problem? Please! any help is deeply appreciated! Thank you very much, in advance.
