Lynx Screen Bleeding lines. Need Help.

Recommended Posts

I have a Lynx I that has a screen which has been getting worse over time. When I first bought it, there was a bit of lines in the screen, but it wasn't too distracting. The lines were like brighter and darker stripes, but all screen pixels were/are visible. Now, the lines in the screen are getting to the point where some games are virtually unplayable. It's worse with some games than others. For example, Road Riot 4WD has bleeding lines, but you can still play fine. Batman Returns, on the other hand, has a lot of horizontal and vertical lines and the screen bleeds so much on these that it's difficult to see what's going on.

Would this be a problem of capacitors needing replaced? Resistors, etc? If it's a simple soldering solution I'd be happy, but would it be a chip going bad?

I am afraid to say its your LCD that has gone bad and quite common on Lynx's :(

You have 2 choices; find a broken Lynx with good screen and swap them or just buy a new Lynx.

Ouch. So it's not repairable without replacing the whole LCD screen?

I may have to put this off for a while if that's the case.

Or you can simply ask someone here if they have an extra Lynx screen somewhere.

I know I do... perhaps one or two.

I have the exact same problem. Mine's just starting to go. The problem occurs 5 mins in for example then goes then comes back. It's a bleeding screen yo-yo! An offer of a working screen going cheap would be appreciated. First refusal to the other guy of course! what causes this guys? With mine I was trying to fix the power light which like the screen is temperamental during play. I took the circuit out containing the LED, did nothing, replaced and then had the screen problem! so maybe i released some static into it without knowing, oops silly me. (I'm so electric!)
