PacManPlus #1 Posted December 23, 2009 Hi: I am in need of helping my brother who is out of work (since April) and is basically being screwed by Compensation although he has a valid claim. Last year I bought a Blue Acer Aspire One - it has a 160Gb hard Drive, and 1Gb of Memory. I also bought an external DVD ROM/CD RW drive and an additional power supply. I've barely touched it. I even made a "Recovery DVD" being that these companies no longer give you one (so when the hard drive breaks down or Windows no longer boots you *have* to send it to them for repair instead of just replacing it and/or restoring). I am asking $250 for it. It was $350 when new, but like I said above this one also includes an external USB DVD / CD-RW drive and an additional power supply. I even still have the box for it. Please PM me if interested. thanks, Bob
brojamfootball #2 Posted December 23, 2009 I've seen your posts around here and know you're a knowledgeable guy, so I wanted to ask: When you buy one of these things can't you hit up the manufacturer for a Windows disc? I was under the impression that when you buy a computer with an installed OS, you have purchased a legal license and have a right to a physical copy(so I've been told). Am I off base here? Sorry to sidetrack the thread--good luck with your sale.
+save2600 #3 Posted December 23, 2009 This is the perfect computer for installing AROS on. Yep, as close to a modern portable Amiga you'll ever get :-) I snag this deal up in a heartbeat if I wasn't so strapped for cash

It's not the Windows Disc that is the issue, it's all of the drivers, pre-installed programs, etc. From what I understand (this laptop is one of the few I did not research this on) you can request a restore CD for an extra charge. An extra charge for something that should be shipped with the unit. (This is a sticking point with me, as I am also the laptop purchasing / administrator for our company, and they *all* used to come with restore CDs. It's only the past few years where this has changed, and it annoys me) Bob P.S., thank you for the well wishes
