Printing Files to APE with SDX?

Recommended Posts

This is a question for someone who uses SDX and also uses APE to do printing through the Winprinter.

I'm trying to print a BASIC listing to the Virtual MX printer in APE. I can't get anything to print. I'm wondering if there is an issue because APE recognizes P: and SDX (I believe) uses PRN: I didn't find an Alias in the manual.

Or perhaps I'm just missing something simple?

Larry,

Not sure if this will help, but p. 23 of the Sparta 4.42 manual says something about CIO use for P:

Thanks for the reply, Fujiman, and you are right -- the manual says you can use P: I also found it works fine with DPRN: and just PRN:

But after some eliminations, I found the culprit was my MIO configuration.

I fell back to MyDos, but it wouldn't print there, either. I re-installed APE, and that made no difference. Then I disconnected the MIO interface and the printer function started working.

So I went to the MIO configuration page for printers and set the printer port number to "NONE" (and disabled the printer buffer).

It immediately started printing! Mystery solved!

Hmmm... that sounds strange - I need to test that. I have my MIO spooler enabled also.

Let me know how yours is set. I suspect that either P2: or NONE would work OK. The spooler setting probably is irrelevant since going SIO.
