Tr3vor #1 Posted December 29, 2009 Today I got a Yobo n64 contoller at play n trade. all i asked for was an anolog stick that didnt hurt my finger, NOT A D-PAD. its all or nothing for this stupid thing. i was wondering if any of you got this controller and if this anolog stick stops being so... d-pad-y, 007 really spazzes left and right and if i cant snipe an idiot on that game, then the controller is a total fail. mabe it will start working better the more i play with it, but it bugs me. anyone here got my problem? the settable turbo is a really cool thing though. StoneAgeGamer #2 Posted December 29, 2009 Yeah unfortunately a lot of the third party controllers (at least the ones still being made) have this problem. Their analog sticks are too sensitive, this is why a lot of people still will not buy anything except for refurbished originals.
Tr3vor #3 Posted December 29, 2009 well, im taking this p.o.s. back on saturday. i only got this cuz they didnt have regular used controllers (they had a regular controller at the part of the store you play the n64, its anolog stick was PERFECT) and the guy said "it looks cheezy, but its a good controller". i bet he hasnt even touched one. if they dont take it back, then im gonna quote him, show them what a pos it is. Tom-Lynx #4 Posted December 29, 2009 As much as I hate the original N64 controller, I hate all the 3rd party ones even more, and I've tried them all. I've scooped up original N64 controllers for my collection in almost every color. They work great....I just never got used to the way you are supposed to hold them. TwinChargers #5 Posted December 29, 2009 Maybe you should look into getting an Arcade Shark for the N64. Definately isn't a D-Pad, and it won't hurt your thumb either.
DaytonaUSA #6 Posted December 29, 2009 I bought a 3rd party controller for my Gamecube once just becuase I wanted the chord extension that came with it. I decided to try the controller anyway, and I had the same issue, but with the C stick. The main analog stick was fine, but when I tried looking around in Rogue Squadron from within the cockpit, it was not smooth.. it was literally just up, right, left, and down. Since then I refuse to use anything but 1st party controllers. Plus, from a cosmetic point of view, they're usually the best looking anyway.
MagitekAngel #7 Posted December 29, 2009 Someone here mentioned these, and they're supposed to be pretty good. They use the same analog stick as the Gamecube controller.

MagitekAngel #9 Posted December 29, 2009 I think they're called Hori Pad Minis. I've never actually used one myself - they're an expensive import from Japan if I recall.

DaytonaUSA #11 Posted December 29, 2009 I think they're called Hori Pad Minis. I've never actually used one myself - they're an expensive import from Japan if I recall. Oh my God, it just hit me. I had one of these a looong time ago. The aqua one on the right in fact. They ARE very nice controllers. Dang, now I need to go buy one. I haven't seen one of these since I sold off my first N64 collection years ago.
tz101 #12 Posted December 29, 2009 Nice looking, but what do you do with two "Z" buttons? The original controller only has one under the center handle.
StoneAgeGamer #13 Posted December 29, 2009 Unfortunately Hori does not make these anymore.
DaytonaUSA #14 Posted December 29, 2009 Nice looking, but what do you do with two "Z" buttons? The original controller only has one under the center handle. It's for either hand. I guess since the layout was different, they wanted to make sure it was convenient on either hand. I really miss mine. They're super rare to find. None on eBay at all. Now that I remember it, I'm really regretting selling mine . I got mine in Japan when I visited there. I have no idea why I'd ditch it as I kept all my other Japanese goodies from when I went over there when I sold off my N64 collection.
StoneAgeGamer #15 Posted December 29, 2009 I e-mailed Hori and asked if they had any sitting in their warehouse somewhere. I doubt they do, but its worth a shot. You never know. I already asked Innex, because they are one of the few U.S. wholesalers of Hori and they said they didn't have any.

I don't need 100 of these lol).
Vic George 2K3 #17 Posted January 1, 2010 I like the look of the Hori N64 pads...it's like looking at a design for the original controller that got bypassed and saved for the Gamecube controller.
