rpgfaker #76 Posted January 3, 2010 Oh and the first time my friend was sucked into the waterpool in Ultima III:Exodus that was a jaw-dropper...
Rev. Rob #77 Posted January 3, 2010 Okay, I finally remember it, my very first "wow" moment. It was seeing Virtua Racing at an arcade with my dad. We were thinking that it was pretty impressive and how soon they'll be able to make the cars realistic. The next "wow" moment after that was playing Sonic Adventure at a Hollywood Video location and getting to that part where the killer whale was behind you. I have never been "wowed" before or since. Everything is usually just how I expected it to be. That's not to say I am not impressed, just not blown away.

shadow460 #79 Posted January 3, 2010 Okay, I finally remember it, my very first "wow" moment. It was seeing Virtua Racing at an arcade with my dad. We were thinking that it was pretty impressive and how soon they'll be able to make the cars realistic. I wondered the same thing about Virtua Racing. Then after a long day in Japan I sat down and heard this: "Daytonaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" Another surprising moment was when I loaded up SotN for the first time on the PS1. It's simply amazing what that or the Saturn can do in 2D mode. The battle with Dracula's second form is pure eye candy. You can't die in it, either, so you can just sit and watch the flashy effects if you want to and wait to be resurrected from the dead. Either version of that in DXC is good, but they can't capture the magic of seeing on an original PlayStation. I was kinda surprised at F-18 Hornet the other day, too. I knew it had some polygons, but it looks like some of them even have some rudimentary textures! And this was coming from a 7800 title! Similarly, watching the speeder in The Empire Strikes Back on the Game Boy is a little surprise. When it turns around, there's a sequence of sprites displayed that make it look like wireframe 3D. I guess that's what it is, no matter how it's rendered.
ToddUGA #80 Posted January 4, 2010 My first real wow moment was playing Space Invaders for the first time in the late 70's. It made Pong (which I was already playing often) look primitive at the time and started me down the gaming path.

It made Pong (which I was already playing often) look primitive at the time and started me down the gaming path. I lived through the same time period but never was amazed by Space Invaders. I think it is due to the fact that I could never get very far on that game. One or two waves of invaders and I was usually dead.
