+thegoldenband
cvga, it looks like you might've missed my times here? Perhaps you mistook them for this week's times -- it's my own fault for posting them so late in the day, I know. They do affect the quarterly standings somewhat, though, so maybe there's still time to edit your post!

They do affect the quarterly standings somewhat, though, so maybe there's still time to edit your post! I didn't miss them. They were just posted so late that I had already updated and ran queries, etc. Typically I use noon (EST) as the cutoff for posts. They'll get counted in with the Week 14 stats.

VectorGamer
Arcade Cutie Q 60 mins <<<-- Set new Twin Galaxies MAME World Record Congrats!!! What is this game like by the way? I've never seen it. Cutie Q was one of three pinball-style breakout games written by Tōru Iwatani, the guy who wrote Puckman, for Namco. The other two are Bomb Bee and Gee Bee. Cutie Q is my favorite of the three because there is more point strategy involved. On the home front, Pinball Spectacular was released for the C64. I have that cart and it's a pretty accurate port.

+thegoldenband
Times for Monday 'til now: Vectrex: Armor Attack - 12 min. Minestorm - 8 min. Space Wars - 12 min. Sega Master System: Comical Machine Gun Joe - 8 min. Sega Genesis: Ariel: The Little Mermaid - 45 min. Atomic Robo-Kid - 152 min. Columns - 4 min. LHX Attack Chopper - 20 min. PC Engine: Atomic Robo-Kid Special - 4 min. Dreamcast: Worms World Party - 38 min. This week, I beat three of the four listed Genesis games on their highest difficulty setting for the first time. Brief notes on those: Ariel: TLM isn't much harder on Difficult than it was on Easy, but having to scrounge up some cash for weapons and fish friends adds a bit to the challenge. It is, however, somewhat unplayable if you haven't beaten the Medium level, as the exits to each level are hidden on Difficult, and you're not likely to find them by accident (whereas they're shown on the map on Medium). We finally took down Flash Doubles Pro 9 in Columns, and did it in all of three minutes of gameplay! Maybe playing the original cart, rather than the Genesis 6-Pak version we usually use, gave us good mojo somehow. I don't know whether one can really talk about "beating" Columns, but this is probably as close as you can get, though it's obviously easier with two brains working on it instead of one. Atomic Robo-Kid gets trashed over at Sega-16, but I'm glad I picked it up, though I won't deny it can be frustrating as hell. Otherwise, I've commented in the review and forum threads there, so I won't repeat myself here. After finally getting the hang of the final boss (and the nuances of the powerup system), I beat it on Easy mode last night, then on Hard mode today; it's actually a pretty straightforward game once you figure it out. More generally, I'm noticing that I have a penchant for relatively short, flawed, but interesting/offbeat titles like Sword of Sodan, Atomic Robo-Kid, Ariel, et al. I guess it's a different thing to play these now, rather than when they were new titles only available at retail cost. I appreciate a game that doesn't expect me to devote more than 30-45 minutes to it at a sitting, and which offers difficulty settings with lavish continues and extra lives so that if the last levels are especially challenging (as in Atomic Robo-Kid), at least I can practice a fair bit before running out of continues.
