"Classic" or otherwise notable games that you've still never played

Recommended Posts

"Final Fantasy 7"... FF8, FF9 and FFT are the only Playstation RPGs that I've played.

"Perfect Dark"

Any of the "Twisted Metal" series.

Any of the "Smash Bros." series.

Any of the "Mario Party" series.

"World Of Warcraft"

Anything for post-Dreamcast consoles except the XBOX. I skipped the Gamecube, PS2, etc.

I played "Chrono Trigger" on ZSNES years ago, but I didn't make much progress.

"Lord Of Thunder"/"Gate Of Thunder"

"Dracula X"

Never played anything in the "Grand Theft Auto" series. The same goes for most modern PC/console series... "Rainbow Six", "Call Of Duty", etc. I've also never been much into PC RPG and strategy titles.

Anything for the Odyssey2.

Never played a real C64, but I have dabbled a bit with emulators.

Never played an Amiga.

Much easier to list what I haven't played on:

Microvision, Commodore Vic-20, XBox 360, PS3, FM Towns Marty, Spectrum Sinclair, MSX (seemingly awesome system, but have only played on emulation), APF Fairchild and I think that's about it, all I can remember anyway! lol

I've never played any of those consoles either, except for emulated MSX.

I downloaded a MSX emulator years ago primarily to relive "Yie Ar Kung Fu", one of my favorite arcade games from my youth. Too bad the MSX port wasn't very good.

You're not missing anything per se on the Odyssey 2 (IMO), but out of the systems yet you haven't hunkered down with, I'd snag a C64 and an Amiga system but quick if you enjoy classic gaming. TurboDuo games *are* good, but the price to performance ratio is rather skewed IMHO (in other words, not worth the coinage to plunk down). And yeah... Grand Theft Auto... blech! lol Reality TV urbanafied to the Nth degree for play on your console. I just don't get how/why certain things in life are so popular.

I have played Link's Adventure for the NES once, and that was only to find Error. Other than that, I haven't played a Zelda game. I haven't played a Super Smash Bros. game, nor Guitar Hero, nor Rock Band.

Never played any of the Myst games, or any of the X-wing/TIE Fighter games. I missed out by not having a good PC.

Never played a Grand Theft Auto of any kind, nor have I the desire.

Growing up in the age of game rentals as well as working at a game shop while in high school, I was able to pretty much play everything from the NES to the early PlayStation and Saturn days. I rent games from the days of 1988 through 1995 (worked at the store from 1992 to October 1995.

Well, since I am not a gamer of the PC, I have never played anything on the computer. So any big titles from the PC I have yet to play and never will…

and for newer game, I have missed some big name titles such as:

Call of Duty - any of them

any of the big titles on the PS3 and the 360 (my 360 library consists of RPGs and Japanese shooters)

Need for Speeds and Burnouts (I am a Gran Turismo snob so I won't play any other racing games except Out Run)

Sports games (last Basketball game I got was NBA 2k5 with Big Ben on the cover - thats the year we won the championship - though I have had an itch to get another basketball game…)

pretty much all FPS except Halo

and for old fashioned games, I never played much of the pre NES games… I'd have to ask my sister what we had back then (she had the Atari). I was too busy playing Transformers/GI Joe/et cetera… to be interested in games as I was only 7-8 at the time.

I've seen in real life, but never tried, a Jaguar and a Lynx.

I have never even seen a 5200 irl, let alone played on one.

As for games, Splatterhouse is the one tg-16 game that sticks out for me. I've tried almost every other domestic game (and a few imports) on that system, but never Splatterhouse on tg-16 or any system.

I havn't played most of the Mario games but then I have no desire to either.

Donkey Kong, DK Jr. and Mario Bros. I like.

But, for me Super Mario, 2 and 3 take too much time. My son and wife once Bogart'd the NES for 90 mins on a Friday night playing one game. Also, at one of my gaming parties, my son and neighbor played it for just as long. I've though of hiding the carts to create equal time on the NES.

Solution for your gaming parties: Multiple NES consoles on multiple CRT's. I had one like this and it went great. That way, all the attendees were able to get their NES fix for the night. :)

Ditto on the 5200, Jaguar and Lynx. I went straight from 2600 to 7800 and skipped the 5200.

I've also never owned _any_ portable systems for some reason.

I have two of those illegal Power Joys that I picked up from Goodwill that I could use. I just don't know if I have enough TVs.

Incidentally, my NES is on the blink. I tried the sandpaper and alcohol trick and it worked for several days and now it's back. I'm just going to have replace that connector at this point. It's like roughly an $8 fix...

I haven't played a console-based zelda or a main line mario game since n64--despite owning quite a few of them. luigi's mansion, mario sunshine, mario galaxy. zelda ocarana of time, twilight princess and whatever the heck else he was in. N64 was where nintendo went in a new direction with their classic characters and I decided I wanted none of it.

come to think of it, I haven't played the smash brothers, mario party or mario kart console games after n64 either. Have been meaning to play one of those pikmin games though.

I've never played Berzerk or Tempest.

I can't think of any "big names" that I haven't played at least once. There are systems that I've never played anything on, but... I mean, I've never played a Channel F, a Colecovision, Vectrex, or a Intellivision.

You need to play Splatterhouse great game IMO. If you dont have a TG-16 it is on the Wii VC. Thats how I have played it.

I've never played Final Fantasy 9. Also, I've never played Dune 2000, which isn't odd in and of itself. What makes it odd is that I was one of the top 25 players in the world of its sequel, Emperor: Battle for Dune.

Never did any of the Final Fantasy games. I just don't have the patience. The only RPG type games I can handle are AD&D for the INTV, Tunnels of Doom (TI99) and Zelda (NES, GB, GBA).

Never played those games and many others. Didn't have unlimited money for buying and renting games, so I had to choose as wisely as I could based on the information that was available to me at the time (usually the back of game boxes, unless I got lucky enough to read a useful review in a magazine at a grocery store or a book store at the mall).
