Cupcakus #1 Posted October 29, 2002 Has anyone ever come up with a sure fire way of catching the ghost? Even if you get it trapped in the beams perfectly, its a random chance in hell the trap will actually get it, as the beams turn off when you hit the trap and the ghost flies off in a random direction. I also found when I was younger, that not buying the image increased my chances at catching the ghost, it seemed to fly more rapidly, thus increasing the chance it will hit the trap. Any thoughts? SS #2 Posted October 29, 2002 Drop the trap in the middile of the screen. Move your first man to the farthest left hand side of the screen and turn around so you're facing the trap. Position your second man on the farthest right hand side of the screen, also facing the trap. Wait for the ghost to drop low near the trap and then quickly turn on your beams and move the two men toward each other so that the beams almost touch ("Don't cross the streams!"). Hit the button to fire the trap and you'll catch the ghost most of the time. Granted, it's easier to catch the ghosts in the 8Bit version but that one gets nastier at the end. Nukey Shay #3 Posted October 29, 2002 Extremely easier on the C64 version...since the streams do not disappear. Anyway... Do not try to trap them on the edges of the screen...as soon as the streams disappear, they almost always scoot toward the center of the screen. King Atari #4 Posted October 29, 2002 The NES version is still the easiest.
StanJr #5 Posted October 29, 2002 Ok, here is my top secret strategy that catches the slimers 8 out of 10 times. Drop your trap center. Run your first guy to the left (DO NOT TURN HIM AROUND, keep him facing left). Run the second guy just to the edge of the building also facing left. Turn on your streams. When the ghost hovers over to the left side of the screen, immediately use the leftmost guy's stream to "push" the ghost toward the trap. USUALLY the ghost's momentum will carry it right into the trap. Time the opening of the trap to coincide with the ghost's momentum and you will get him ALMOST every time. If things get out of hand, use the rightmost guy's beam as a buffer to keep the ghost from getting away, but otherwise you never have to worry about the rightmost guy OR crossing the streams. Catching ghosts this way will earn you MEGA points, MEGA fast! Good luck!
