DaytonaUSA #1 Posted January 10, 2010 (edited) I just got this for 62 dollars with shipping!!!! I'm SO happy. This thing is MINT! I've always wanted a Spice Gamecube, but they're so pricey. Now I got one with the freakin Gameboy adapter and Digital Out!! Edited January 10, 2010 by DaytonaUSA
Sam9938 #2 Posted January 10, 2010 Woh. Thats a really cool cube. I had no idea that they even came in that color. Well maybe I remember seeing a commercial for it. How much do you think all that stuff is worth?
wccw mark #3 Posted January 10, 2010 (edited) thats awesome.too bad nintendo didnt make more colors for the gamecube in the u.s.a besides black & purple.japan always gets the cool stuff. Edited January 10, 2010 by wccw mark
AtariLeaf #4 Posted January 10, 2010 LOL, when the title said "spice gamecube" I was expecting a gamecube decorated like the spice girls They should have called it pumpkin or something like that. Great deal. Didn't know gamecube stuff was rare. I got one recently and noticed in EB that Double Dash used was $49.99. Insane!
Tom-Lynx #5 Posted January 10, 2010 That is an excellent find at a great price. The spice orange Gamecubes are very hard to find in mint condition that still have the digital A/V port. Does it play Japanese games only? Or has it been modded to play Japanese and US games? Just the Nintendo brand orange and white controllers are worth $30 as a pair. Tempest #6 Posted January 10, 2010 I've always wanted an Indigo GBP for my GC so it matches (although black isn't too bad), but they only released it in that color in Japan. I assume that if you get a Japanese GBP it only plays Japanese games? Then again, I wonder how hard it would be to do a 'shell swap' with my US version? I've never liked the Spice color. Years ago I got offered one at a decent price, but I thought it was hideous and passed. Indigo all the way! Tempest

Years ago I got offered one at a decent price, but I thought it was hideous and passed. Indigo all the way! Tempest I imported an Indigo Gameboy Player for my US Gamecube and it works perfectly. All you need is the US Gameboy Player startup disc, which Nintendo sold for a long time directly on their site, and they are plentiful as used items at Gamestop. The Gameboy Player accesories are not region locked. Also, once you startup the system, it will play any Gameboy / GBA game in the world.
DaytonaUSA #8 Posted January 10, 2010 Yea, the system alone is worth up to 150 bucks, and the player can go for about 50. Not to mention the condition is insane, and I've seen ones with digital out go for 230! He JUST put it up, becuase I did a search for spice gamecube system, and only a really pricey one came up.. I hit refresh and this was there with a BIN. He's even going to stores today for me to get a list of games I want! This guy is seriously amazing. I can't wait to play it. No it just plays JPN region disks, but I'm getting a freeloader for the off chance I want to play a US game. I don't like modding consoles as it ruins the collectability. liveinabin #9 Posted January 11, 2010 Nice! My wife imported a Spice controller for herself but we never got a Spice GC, wish I had now.
DaytonaUSA #10 Posted January 11, 2010 Nice! My wife imported a Spice controller for herself but we never got a Spice GC, wish I had now. There's one on eBay atm from United Kingdom. It's much more than mine was (250) but it's new and has 2 games. Plus, the thing that would kill the deal, shipping, I'm sure is a lot less than to the states. moycon #11 Posted January 11, 2010 Sweet find Daytona! Looks really nice. I have a purple Cube and a silver Cube. Will that unit play US games?
DaytonaUSA #12 Posted January 11, 2010 Sweet find Daytona! Looks really nice. I have a purple Cube and a silver Cube. Will that unit play US games? Thanks. I had a black one before I got the wii. Now that I gave up the wii I want to play some of my gamcube games again. I figured Id get the one I always wanted. I'm buying all the games I loved in their Japanese form, but I have a freeloader on the way just in case I want to play an American game

I remember reading about this years ago and thought it looked pretty sweet. I have no idea how much one would set a person back, but i suspect it would be a pretty penny. Can't even think about a purchase like that till I've moved into my new house though.

If it's shipped to you, even well packed, it'll have a very high chance of breaking. There's a little tab inside that can break, and if it does your system is history. Also, in the last year it's become VERY rare because of this problem. Working ones fetch about 750 now! Hardly worth it.

DaytonaUSA #16 Posted January 15, 2010 It came today! Looks like a perfect "cube" now with the player underneith it. Everything works great, and the US games are playing perfectly with the Freeloader disk. I was wondering if there are any good GBA games out there. Now that I have this system, I kinda feel obligated to revisit the GBA line. I bought Mario Land 1 and 2 tonight just because I wanted to play those old games (damn GB games are pricey used...). I like the big Nintendo franchises like F-Zero, Mario Kart, ect. I'm not into RPGs or anything like that. Anywho, here it is all powered up. I seem to not have a very important piece of hardware... a memory card! Haha. I'll have to pick one up tomorrow. Otherwise it's a beauty. I have some Digital Out cords coming in a couple days, so I can't wait to hook this up to the LCD and play some Rogue Squadron .
Bilnick #17 Posted January 15, 2010 The Super Mario Advanced line of games was a nice revisit of the Nes/Snes Mario games. The remake of Super Mario 3 also used the E-reader which was pretty neat. I wish Nintendo had released all of the E-reader cards that they had planned on for Super Mario 3.

Tom-Lynx #20 Posted January 16, 2010 FreeLoader isn't 100% reliable for playing all U.S. games, but it will do most.
nathanallan #21 Posted January 16, 2010 Great pickup, man! Great price, too! I wouldn't mod that particular system, either, but I would go for modding a standard US one-- ever heard of Viper? They made chips for it, but I want the new case for it, lets you use normal sized DVD disks. Did I miss a thread? You gave up on the Wii?? I can understand *why* one would, but what happened to yours?? Next you'll have to make a custom go-kart for this system I suggest Koopa's cart. Hey, it's a dinosaur, why the heck not

Hey, it's a dinosaur, why the heck not I had it up for sale, and it sold on eBay . I just didn't enjoy it. The controls always felt tacked on, and the few games I did enjoy on the system paled in comparison to what I could get on the other two, so I sold it and purchased my PS3. Yea, I've seen those custom DVD sized cases. They're pretty cool. I'd do the same for a US system, but not this. Per the Freeloader, the few games it doesn't work for , like F-Zero GX, I'll be getting the Japanese versions of anyway. I have the Japanese version of Soul Calibur 2 now and it's great. The voice acting doesn't sound as cheesy either and the subtitles are gone, yay! And hardi har har har on the go-kart, Nathan haha.
