The MilkMan #1 Posted January 14, 2010 On youtube I saw this new Xbox venture being developed. Full body motion and voice recognition for game play. No controllers at all. It's new to me, probably old news to everyone else. Looks interesting. Just trying to dig up more info...anyone else know or heard anymore about this "project"? Says "Holidays 2010"
FastRobPlus #2 Posted January 14, 2010 I've heard of it...
The MilkMan #3 Posted January 14, 2010 I take it that it wont work with existing titles? Will this be a NEW console thing or something?
Reaperman #4 Posted January 14, 2010 (edited) I thought we had a pretty good thread on it here. that's from way back when it was demo'ed. not that it was really a demo, I think it was more of a concept video since nothing was done live. but the technology could actually be in development right now, I just don't believe it will look/work nearly as well as anything shown. nonner242 #5 Posted January 14, 2010 I saw it in action on Jimmy Fallons late night show. And saw afew google/E3 show vids, looks pretty sweet to me. I might pick it up if it lives up to 80% of what I have seen so far.
The MilkMan #6 Posted January 14, 2010 I thought we had a pretty good thread on it here. that's from way back when it was demo'ed. not that it was really a demo, and I still call BS on what I saw. but the technology could be real, I just don't believe it will look/work nearly as well as anything shown. Thats cool. Like I said, I figured it's old news. Thanks for the link man! Gonna read more on it.
Hyper_Eye #7 Posted January 14, 2010 I dread the crapware that will come once Natal arrives. There might end up being a few decent titles for it but expect a ton of shovelware.
moycon #8 Posted January 14, 2010 I dread the crapware that will come once Natal arrives. There might end up being a few decent titles for it but expect a ton of shovelware. Honestly I don't even expect that. There's will be a few titles that kick-ass when it comes out. Then a next round of titles that sell like shit, and taking a hint from the Wii, producers including MS will move on rather than support an add-on that doesn't sell software. They should stick with only useful addons like the HD-DVD drive. Don't laugh! I really do still use mine all the time. Hey you know I'm not laughing, I used mine yesterday! First 3 episodes of Man Vs Food on Netflix, then I slipped a DVD of Monsterquest Season 2 into the HD-DVD drive! Helps me get through the night! CPUWIZ #11 Posted January 15, 2010 They dropped a chip from the unit, now that chip has been replaced by software, taking up 10% of the 360's power. I doubt I'll be buying one, but I bet I get to check it out at work.

So I believe it will be 15% until they prove otherwise.

I doubt I'll be buying one, but I bet I get to check it out at work. Just curious, but why is that a good/bad thing? What could it affect game-wise? And why did they do it? They did it because they need to bring down the cost of Natal and there is one very good reason why it is a bad thing. Because of this change MS has dropped the possibility that current games could have Natal support added through a software update. The idea was floated previously but it is definitively off the table with this change it would seem. What will it mean for future games that will support Natal? The amount of processing power they have available is down by 15%. For some developers that may mean nothing at all.
Atarifever #16 Posted January 15, 2010 (edited) You guys aren't seeing the whole picture. Motion controls. Low cost from day one. Weakening the processor. Microsoft is making the Wii. They are weakening the processor in order to match the Wii as much as possible. Edited January 15, 2010 by Atarifever
